Persoanlly, I would cut about half their length off. Even assault rifles don't have that much exposed barrel. Most of the barrel is covered by the grip. It would also make the stacks more realistically proportioned.

Honestly, I really like the way the gun mode looks, but I'm going to make new barrels that 10 to 15mm shorter, for the sake of the alt mode. Probably be one of the last things I do on it, though. I can't just cut them off, because there's a smaller tube inside each one, that blocks the barrel off. I'd never be able to black out the inside of the full length.

Anyway, here's a shot with all his killamajigs, showing the smokestack gun. This'll probably be the last shot, untill I'm finish with him.

The gun does look brilliant; I imagine it'd look really cool held across the body...

I would leave it that way. It would be too short for Truck mode to cut half way. Or cut it 1 cm like Ramrider said

Actually, no, it wouldn't. As it stands now, they are too long to be realistic for a semi.

Yeah. On most trucks with any kind of a raised roof, the stacks don't stick up that far over it. I'm not sure why I was thinking they should be so long.

Yeah they are to long for the alt mode, but the gun looks so sweet.

I think I'm gonna slightly steal your design idea for that cab topper for my classics Motormaster. Instead of guns of course it would have the combined head hidden inside though.

I think a better choice for Motormaster would be Cybertron Optimus, rather than Classics Optimus.

You know, somehow, that's given me an idea for mine, too. Although I'm not going to be sacrificing the original vane, since I'm already using that for Motormaster and Menasor's gun. But I think I may actually be able to store all that extra gubbinry in truck mode after all...

To get the original toys relative proportions yes. But I want the bot modes to be closer in size. Motormaster will be taller, but not huge compared to his limb bots. His trailer will act as added bulk and such to give him the extra size he needs in combined mode. Of course at this point the only one I have anywhere close to done is Dragstrip. Not much time.

And to stay on topic, this definately my favorite incarnation of your character Greyryder. He's heavily armed without looking overally bulky, love the sword and the back the gun, the shorter stacks look great in both modes. And is that smoke marks on the tips, or jsut the lighting? Also how did you mod the head to get teh extra articulation in the neck?

I sprayed the ends of the stacks with a color called Jet Exhaust, to dirty them up a bit.

The head now sits on T-bar made from styrene tubing. It fits into channels on either side of the head, that the back of the head slides into. I'm not sure why Hasbro made the head that way, but it made things easier for me. You end up loosing the screw hole, that way. But, there's a peg higher up that could be drilled out to relocate the screw, do long as you're not planning to hack up the head as badly as I did.

he looks like he has a stylized cat head as a helmet, like LioKaiser. Those ridges halfway up almost look like where the cheeks end. (like I said, stylized)
and I bet that sword doesn't store in vehicle mode, does it. ;)

Well, it wasn't the original toys' relative size I was even thinking about. I was talkin gmore from a functionality stand point, as well as overall appearance. Also, given that Motormaster was a semi, he really would be much larger than his subordinates, who were sports cars. That is another reason why Cybertron prime would be a better choice. Not only that, but it would differentiate him from Classics Optimus even more because of the completely different transformation. It also already has combiner points built in.

Actually, his helmet is roughly based on a wolf's head head dress.

No. The sword doesn't store in vehicle mode.

This is probably in the top 5 kitbashes I've ever seen. It has everything- tasteful mods, good colors, good paint, flawless execution. Truly top notch work. I dont think this Greyryder can be topped. Points for fixing one of my biggest problems with Prime, the headlights.
