Who exactly is supposed to want this one? The Geewunners who'd appreciate the throwback don't want this series to even exist. And fans of the new show probably would prefer the green version. I might have gone for it if it'd had an Animated Grimlock head rather than G1, but that's probably just me.

On figures that are pretty much just straight repaints, they kind of have to go with the head that is part of the mold. To use Fireflight's head, they'd have to make a toy with the Alpha Bravo/Blades mold, a toy with the Fireflight mold, throw out the heads on the first one, and throw out the rest of the figure on the second. It isn't like they can just take the Fireflight mold and say, "Only pour plastic into the part with the head!"

That being said, if a faceplate was that important, maybe they should have gone with the Alpha Bravo head rather than the Blades one?

So wait, who should and should not have a mouthplate? Vortex has one (a repaint of a/b) and should, if memory serves correctly; Blast Off does not and should, correct?

Maybe you put the wrong name into your comment X :???:

Blast Off (brown shuttle) has a face plate on both the G1 cartoon and the vintage G1 cartoon. They should have just left the fireflight head on it instead of using blades head. Hell even the vortex/alpha bravo head would have worked better.

I just kind of figured that they were trying to emulate his hand cannon, although it is odd that they put it on the opposite side then that that it is usually depicted on.

And thanks to a little third party help, it is something I'm able to do with the Generations Trailbreakercutter I already have:

As someone who could probably be considered a by some to be a "Geewunner," I have no problem with this series existing. Just because I have never watched the show or plan to, or have any plans related to the show's toys, doesn't mean I wish to deny this show to those who do enjoy it. Nor would I not happily welcome the show's fans as fellow Transformers fans.

That all being said... Yeah, this isn't a toy I'd be interested in myself. I just don't like the implication that because I don't want something myself I don't want it (or the show it is from) to even exist.

I imagine that some fans of the show may just like the alternate color scheme. Some kids who are fans might not care and just want it if they think it looks cool. And finally, there are I am sure some people who are fans of both this and G1, and might love this toy. And to all those people: Awesome for you! Hope you enjoy it!

Uh sorry to burst your bubble, but this is a direct repaint of your dear Slingshot. Him and Fireflight share the same mold with different heads.

Kinda thought you meant Blast-Off; and, yeah, the quickslinger head is really as counter to Blast-Off as possible, only reason that I think that they may have changed it, is that the heads ma seem to similar (onslaught - faceplate, brawl - faceplate, blast-off - faceplate and visor, vortex - faceplate and visor) really think that they could have made a new face with a sharper visor and a mouth though.

I would really prefer the ability to have two seperate robot animals for Skylynx, but I will say that it is certainly one of the most fun new designs in the Transformers brand now. Very Yusha, very Japanese. Makes me want to have this toy feature in an animated feature to let it have fun. Weapons look like they form a double bladed sword for combined mode. I'm not a fan of the chosen limb robots, personally would have been more excited to see some stuff that better matched the colour scheme and had a more japanese vibe carried over as well. I'm a little disappointed that he sacrifices my favourite gimmick of his design for a combiner mode, but at least the kept him equally as fun and silly an idea as Skylynx really is. I'll likely buy this if I see it in person and I'm hopefully to see what Takara does with this. Betcha oodles of Chrome and maybe a different team.?

Gah!! why wasn't Sky-Lynx a leader class?! I was totally ho-hum about this entire reveal until him, then I realized he was a combiner torso =P This is the first CHUG figure where I think the G1 toy works better on the shelf then the new one. He still looks great but his size is going to be way off.

I think my biggest gripe with the '84 limbs is that they take slots from other figures who never had an update; I never cared for the '84 team members on the whole, so I didn't get the classics versions, and I won't be getting these >:oP

I would've liked to see, say, Ruckus (yeah I know: subscription stuff) and other weird ones like flamefeather instead of the rehashing of these characters (I admit the time between classics and these is considerable enough to be justifiable).

I didn't say that I was going to keep him combined. I just pointed out the fact that he reminds me of a Megazord. When I get Combiner Wars figures, if it's not a part of a combiner, than it won't combine at all.
BTW, now that a CW Bruticus is confirmed, how possible is it for the Combaticons to be repainted into Ruination. :-?

Yes. Now go to your room and don't play with yourself.

Who exactly is supposed to want this one? The Geewunners who'd appreciate the throwback don't want this series to even exist. And fans of the new show probably would prefer the green version. I might have gone for it if it'd had an Animated Grimlock head rather than G1, but that's probably just me.

Don't forget that quite apart from rabid fans and children there's a third group who buys Transformers toys; adults buying presents for children. When Uncle Jared is buying a toy for his little nephew he might not have watched Transformers since his own childhood, but still sees this and is like "Ah yeah that T-Rex guy was cool, I remember him, I'll buy that one."

Motto: "Freedom is the right of all sentient beings to randomly click things in the Admin Panel to see what it breaks."
Fans: Gawd I wish Hasbro would give us new updated combiners like the Scramble City ones, not those stupid Energon or Power Core Combiners!
Hasbro: Oh you want Combiners? FINE! EVERYONE'S A COMBINER!

While I do like the prospect of updated G1 characters, turning them all into Combiners is just unnecessary. Good thing I won't have to combine them to keep them on the shelf.

So yet another heavy retool from the Silverbolt mold! like they did for Cyclonus! but this time.....as Sky Lynx, I'm actually quite liking this one, I'm just wondering somewhere down the line....what they'll retool Leader Class Megatron & Ultra Magnus as? If anything.

I see they're also doing a Titan Wars....starting with Fort Max! who's probably a heavy retool of Generations Metroplex, still would love to see a Titan Class Trypticon & Omega Supreme.
