Here's my thoughts on the reveals:
The '84 limb bots are looking really good, better then I thought they would! Even Ironhide, the one of the four I was feeling the least since I'd rather he be a van then a pick-up. (Still wish they'd maybe used First Aid's mold with the light bar removed...) But still, color me impressed.
Battle Core Optimus, as it seems they are officially calling the white Optimus Prime, also looks better then I was expecting. Still, I think I will stick with my original plans and skip him, and just use the already released red Optimus as the core of that combiner.
Bruticus looks really good, too! I am a bit miffed about Blast Off, though, being a jet... Although frankly, it isn't unexpected. And I am sure many (the same people who were happy to see Groove made Legends Class) will actually prefer this over a space shuttle. I do wonder if, though, much like with Groove, Takara might pull a new mold out of their butts for Blast Off.
Nice to see Brawl as a new mold. A lot of people were expecting him to be a heavy remold of Rook. Instead, it is Swindle who is the Rook remold? Interesting.
With Vortex... Man, with all of the remolding going on with the various figures, it is amazing that this is the
third use of this mold, and the only thing they've ever changed on any of 'em was the coloring and the head. You'd think one of 'em, at least, could have gotten a little re-sculpting outside of the head.
Still not sure if I will get this Bruticus or stay happy with my Fansproject augmented Asian Exclusive one. But I will say that it seems like it might be a harder choice then I was previously thinking it would!
If nothing else, though, as far as Bruticus goes, I think I'll have that Legends Shockwave!
It will be nice to finally get a Buzzsaw for my Classics collection. And hopefully he also gets a Lazerbeak repaint, so I can retire my Real Gear Booster X-10. What is that his alt mode is supposed to be, though? A hand held game system? An MP3 player?
Holy crap, Sky Lynx. Sky Lynx! He will be mine. Oh yes, he will be mine. Somehow I doubt it, but I wonder if he can be pulled in half and form the two separate animals as well? It won't be the end of the world if he can't, but I would be so excited if he can! Somehow, though, I doubt it, since he
also has to form a combiner torso. I suppose they at least give that a nod, though, by having the gestalt's head resemble the original lynx's head.
And another wave of random Autobots made out of limb-bot repaints, intended as limbs for Sky Lynx's gestalt. Dunno, maybe I'll get these. They do look good. But I don't really need them... Of course, I didn't need the wave intended to go with Optimus either, and I was already planning on getting those even before images of them had been revealed. And much like those, for random repaints, these seem to work surprisingly well. And hey, if I skip Bruticus, and since I am already going Takara for Defensor, Hound might be a good way for me to experience thee Rook mold.
I am a bit perplexed with Legends Wreck-Gar being advertised as a part of the Sky Lynx combiner, since Wreck-Gar is a Groove repaint. And Groove was designed to be a chest plate to attach to Hot Spot. So how would Wreck-Gar attach to Sky Lynx? (Since he is not pictured as doing so, the pictures aren't much help.)
Also, if they are already doing an orange repaint of Groove for Wreck-Gar, I wonder if this bodes well for Afterburner getting a new mold when they get around to Computron? I would have hoped so, anyway. But this makes me feel better about such hopes, as I doubt they'd want to do to such similar redecos of the same mold.
I am amused by the slide about the SDCC Devastator, proclaiming the new features, when they just got totally owned by Takara on that front.
Don't really understand why so many people love sky-lynx? is it his part in some comic series, is it to fill a gap in your updated collection, is it fond memories? Sky Reign looks so amazing; and it was clever to pull a 180 (literally) on us with Hotspot/Onslaught. Want Chopshop, as I never got the first version (that insecticon guy), the auto-cars are an insta-skip, though I need some to combine with Sky-Lynx...
