Not really.

TRU.ca is 109.99 $ cdn + tax = 126$ cdn

Chimunmung is:

54.90+25= 79.9 USD

79.9 USD = 99.88$ cdn

If ever customs gets you, it will be the added tax so about 115$ cdn. So its cheaper but not WAAAYYYY cheaper. You save anywhere between 10-25$. They still come out to 33$ each.

He meant pictures of the event. Its a lesser version of what Seibertron got at the NY Toy Show. It was quite a letdown after the post he wrote. You can view the pictures here. I would have included them here but sadly they are not related to the topic (AAARRGH!)

Oh Shajaki, I read a post on the very first page of this thread saying you were excisted for the insecticons since you dont have them yet. Still excited ?

Lol OK. I kept thinking he had pictures of these things. Oh well. I take it this came from a Hasbro rep?

Hyping this would be fine if we knew if this guy was trustworthy. It doesn't sound like Hasbro to play their hand so early in the year, especially when they have nothing to show for some of these releases. But hey, I'm never, ever right on this stuff.

He was just reporting for Ozformers like how this site has representatives that report for us at other events.

And Hasbro Australia operates differently from the main Hasbro, as we in the West aren't getting the imported Takara-only toys that Australia is getting, and not much else from what was already revealed at New York Toy Fair was revealed at Australia Toy Fair. Anything new was likely just announced without visuals, leaving it to BotCon or SDCC to have the proper reveal. Previous BotCons have announced things that weren't revealed until the SDCCs of those same years.

Yes, even at $200, that is a steal. I'd pay upwords of $300 for a minty new set of G1 Dinobots. Name somewhere else (besides KO's) where you can get G1 dino's for that kinda price.

It's collectible. It's limited. Our dollar is low. It is what it is folks. If it's too expensive for you to rationalize, then skip it. Also, Predaking might be an unfair comparison. I'll tell ya, his previous reissues weren't as cheap, so who knows what the story is behind that.

I get your points. One thing I do want to stress is that secondary market prices should not influence the price of a rerelease. That ends up just being a losing game for consumers. Using your Insecticon argument, that would mean that the MP 10 rerelease we had last year (with the sigma key) would have been 400$ and we should have simply accepted it (same with charging 800$ for a Liokaiser rerelease to take your point to the extreme). Not saying thats wrong, but it definitely sucks and makes collecting transformers a rich man's game instead of reaching as many fans as possible.

Fairly certain no one is trying to make the argument that reissue pricing should be based upon secondary market pricing. Shajaki's just trying to explain his interest and using that as part of the justification, which makes sense in this context. Why not get the shiny news ones when the shiny old ones cost the same?

They removed Roller and Spike?! That's kinda random and cheap-ass from their part. Still, those two accessories certainly arent worth 50$.

I blame the recent monstrous price hike of Canadian TFs.

I did a quick check and yeah, its because TRU is ofsetting the exchange. In US$, the price increas from YOTH to YOTG Prime is just 20$.

However, I dont find that the G2 mold is worth as much as the MP mold, but thats moe of an opinion on value.

Shajaki, I would like to apologize for my comment. I was going back to this thread to add the pic below to have everything in the same G1 reissue thread but when I reread what I wrote I felt the need to apologize. I was so frustrated with the price hike from the previous reissues that I was seeing things that werent there. I totally misinterpreted what you wrote and put words in your mouth that you never said. You were just glad to have another chance to own these and chastising someone for finding happiness in this great hobby is wrong. So I am sorry.

So, back to what I came here for, heres the pic of G1 astrotrain and Blitzwing just so we have all these G1 reissues in the same thread.

Not to start any trouble, and I'm not sure where your location is so that may affect the price to, but I just did a quick search of eBay, and there are quite a few G1 Insecticons sets for far cheaper than the new Toys "R" Us. Just saying.

Re: Hasbro G1 Reissue releases for 2015 Generations/Platinum

I am excited to get some new recolors ala eHobby reissues. I just wish these were new characters with bios. I also wish they'd thought through that Astrotrain scheme. It's a little weird.

Nothing stopping you (or FunPub) from repurposing ;) The colors of Blitzwing are close enough to be repurposed as an alternate version of Flywheels, or Shattered Glass Blitzwing.
The resident Rewind... well, half of one

Guessing both of these will get some SG stickers. Heh.

Maybe the club will put out some bios. Heck, maybe they'll put out two different competing bios. One for a new character of each. One for Shattered Glass!

Club. Do this! It's awesome.

I'm not sure it went THAT far, but hey ain't no thang ;)

And if it's true that the old reissue is still low on ebay, I'd totally buy it over the newer more expensive one obviously. Shajaki ain't made of money :ic$:
