Oh I'm sorry. This must be a thread only for die-hard Hasbro fanboys. These are cruddy repaints from a cruddy movie. I will pay $100+ for one third party figure that holds true to the source material and the Hoi polloi can waste their six months of allowance on this kibble.

Serious question: How many 3rd party items out there honestly do try to "hold true to the source material" compared the vast amount of those that instead try for completely unique "Classics-style updated Neo-G1" designs that aren't rooted in any official fiction?

Oh, they WILL do more MP dinobots for sure. However, unless they are willing to bet millions and rebuild the G1 dino molds from scratch, no official G1 reissue of the dino will be possible.

My problem is with kids telling the posters who don't like this recycled fodder to "quit ur b!tchin". This is a discussion thread. I do not like what Hasbro is doing with the dinobots and this is where I will tell you about it. There are plenty of third party out there that I will buy. If Takara and/or Hasbro want to release MP versions of the Dinobots to go along with Grimlock then I will consider buying them.

We all know the Hasbro team reads these threads. This is much more effective than a strongly worded email.

Combiner Wars Aerialbots, Stunticons, Protectobots and the soon to come Combaticons are great. I love them. These dinobots might as well be gumball machine prizes.

We are all free to discuss our opinions here, that is what makes it fun. But hostility does make it hard for anyone to continue a conversation.

I do have a question about what you wrote. Why wait til now to get the 3rd party dinos? There was never even a hint of an indication that we were gonna get Classics Dinobots. Any hint for the future pointed towards more combiner wars and titan wars. And that would make it far less likely for hasbro to revisit the FOC Grimlock aesthetic later. The rumour for these was G1 reissues, which nobody would place on their calssics shelf/collection anyways. So why bring up 3rd party now? Why havent you bought them already?

It just seems like a lot of empty threats since this whole platinum set was never about Generations Dinos and we never had any indication that Hasbro would do that anyway. At least now we have placeholders at the very least, which arent costing as much.

Well, I guess since you're quoting me (and taking it completely out of context) that, I am no kid. I am not telling you to like it, nor am I telling you to buy, or that, in not doing so, you are less of a fan.

My problem is with the posters telling saying that we are wrong to like these, that they don't deserve to be made, and that - by extension - my sense of aesthetics are not only wrong, but are harmful to your G1 purist horse sh!t.


I like these figures, I liked them from the movie line, and I like the new heads on them. Hasbro isn't trying to pass these off as the be all, end all dinobots, they're just trying to throw you a bone while they're combiner line is going. They could have just not made them, but then people (myself included) would be disappointed that this wasn't around because they like this sort of thing.

Sorry to disagree with you brother. I have no care for the AOE Dinobots in G1 colours. And I'd much rather give my money to Hasbro, than the likes of Zhong Jin, in terms of G1 reissues. I feel it's a common myth that the original molds (or at least the closest approximations) are completely and utterly truly gone, or cannot be redone somehow. It's just a myth, I tell you!?

Not that I'm going to wage war over my tiny opinion. My interest in this is only academic. Cheers.

It's not a "myth" nor an opinion, it's a fact. Building new molds from scratch cost a lot of money and HasTak will never invest that kind of money for 5 or 6 molds just to please a handful of customers. They must MAKE money, not lose it. Why do you think repaints and slight remolds is so prevalent with Transformers? Because they need to make a PROFIT. They are not a charity to cater to you lil' princess needs.

However...

Chinese KO companies are able to make high quality and almost perfectly accurate G1 "reissues" for everything that exist without a care in the world. So, what do KO companies have that HasTak don't? Why don't HAsTAk contact them and make a deal with these KO companies to officialise and make all these brand new G1 KOs so they can become "real" reissues?

You are more than welcome to like these horrendous toys. I am acutely aware of how an opinion is a reflection of the person giving it. And I am positive that when you said "quit ur b!tchin", you were telling the haters of these cheap pieces of manure to stop voicing their opinions. Not gonna happen. Create a thread called "We love these bayformer dinobots!" and kick off the trolls. I promise you won't hear a peep from me in that thread. But in this one, it's open season. Don't tell people to stop voicing their opinion and I won't call you a fanboy.

If creating new molds is so expensive, then why is Takara supposedly creating a space shuttle Blast Off? How many different repaints/retools (whatever) can they make of that mold? The expensive mold theory does not make sense.

Has anyone ever discussed the possibility of voyager class dinobots? These guys were hulking brutes in the cartoon and comics. Voyager size would be perfect for them.

One more thought. We are arguing over toys. But that's because we are passionate fans.

There is a difference between "I don't like this." and "This is pure garbage!"

To add, how can one call something garbage unless they have actually handle a certain product? Give a figure a new head and you'll see a change in attitudes.

Same happened to me with E-Hobby Orion Pax. I called it "s#t" when they reused the Ch'a head. But when a 3rd party Orion Pax head is attached, my attitude turned 180 degrees and love the figure a lot.

Not really.

Hasbro does not have to sell repaints to make a profit, they just want to. Like any large corporation, they are lazy. They want to do things as cheap as possible. They could easily make many more new molds every year, but since the fandom has proven to be a bunch of good little lemmings who will buy whatever they are told, we keep getting repaints.

Normally this doesn't bother me, but when you start taking classic, iconic characters, and making them cheap repaints, I get pissed.

The Dinobots, Sunstreaker, Ironhide, Prowl, mirage, Hound, Motormaster, and Blastoff all deserve their own molds. The repaints are out of control. That's why we need to stop buying them.

I'm with you here. I actually liked the Purple and Red Triceratops, as far as color scheme go. But the lime green was a little weird, though I kinda liked the green on Snarl.

To switch gears a bit, I think Target was going to be the distributor of Trypticon. Was August the release date, can anyone remember? Thanks in advance!
