Not a sheeple.
Think for yourself, don't let the magic TV box and social media do the thinking for you.
Question EVERYTHING!!
Just because you have a youtube review channel doesn't make you special.
I look forward to attending a Botcon soon only to settle matters with several idiots in person (yes this is a threat).

Bishop said it best.
This is a terrible design. A horrible cheat. Children are not stupid and dumbing this down won't make it sell any better. You shrink the class down even more and charge more than before, plus it's horribly simplistic.
There aren't a lot of parents willing to spend $45.00 on a figure nowadays. Especially Optimus and Bumblebee. The local stores are overstocked with Transformers that just don't sell. The clearance aisles are littered with figures of all Classes that didn't sell. If parents aren't buying and kids can't, that leaves collectors.
And collectors aren't going to be too pleased with this guy. It would be one thing if it was like the Prime Weaponizers, where it's simplistic, but gimmicky and affordable. This guy is looking gimmickless, simplistic and not affordable.
The new Hasbro team might just be their downfall. They need to bring back the last team, the ones responsible for Generations Springer and so on.
Well, I'm glad I have the ROTF mold Optimus (the Amazon Jetwing, to be exact), because that's the definitive movieverse Optimus. This is a joke in plastic.
...wait and see. Hasbro will make a Platinum Edition that's $100.00+ and has ROTF/Masterpiece level detail and complexity. That'll make me really mad. Milking it for all it's worth. That's Bandai level cheating to me.

The toy is mistransformed. You can tell because the shoulders are out of place. Hasbro never transforms their own stuff right lol! I won't be getting this. However, if this is an indication of the style the new movie is going for design wise I kinda like it. A little more streamlined and more prime like. A step in the right direction as far as I'm concerned

What I don't understand is, why, if they are going to display these things, can they not find someone, anyone, who is competent enough to know how to correctly transform these things. Clearly his arms are not right.
That said, the best toy of Prime to come from a Bay movie was Revenge of the Fallen Leader Class Prime with the pop out swords.
Look at this, from it's display picture, it looks kinda small for a Leader or is it just that there's nothing close to it to compare.

I'll be honest. At first I thought it was a deluxe fig until I read the title more carefully.
While it's unfair to judge the accuracy of this toy without first seeing pics of the CGI model, it looks like the whole chest is made of faux kibble.
I'd be okay with the back kibble if its accurate to the CGI model as a sort of cape, but somehow I doubt it.
Either way, I still prefer the original movie design as well as the ROTF leader class toy.
Oh well, that just means more money saved for the MP and Thrilling 30 lines.

This is simply sad, especially for a Leader Class toy. It's not even Deluxe worthy.

Looking at your post, then back to the images, I see where you're coming from. Completely agree, this would look way better as Rodimus Prime than Optimus Prime.
Hear that, customizers and kitbashers? Make this happen.

NOOOOOOO! If it was Rodimus, I'd be hoping for him to be killed off by the end.
Also, I just noticed this. Prime's "key" looks very similar to a Mass Effect Relay:

Lets get a closer look at this vehicle mode:

After comparing the two images my opinion is as follows:
So far I believe the toy looks solid, but I will reserve my full judgement when I can compare the robot mode.

After comparing the two images my opinion is as follows:
- 1: The front looks cool but it's missing the head lights. Also, minor nitpick, the blue stripe in the center of the grill might help the chrome stand out better.
2: Going down the sides, a notable difference appears and it's the running board below the gas tanks. I can't get a fair view of it on the movie still but I think it's either black, or not there at all. Hasbro probably molded it that way for structural reasons (at least aside from cost cutting). They could still have chromed the exhaust pipe.
3: The rear of the vehicle remains to be seen, but from what is pictured, the rear wheel wells needs additional paint apps. The red flame deco on the front and the chrome on the middle space are missing entirely. It would be nice if Hasbro added them but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Re: Hasbro Press Event Coverage: First Images of Transformers: Age of Extinction Optimus Prime!
Every year I add fewer and fewer Primes to my collection and this year will be no exception. I may get two, at most, from this new movie line and you can bet that their bot modes will never see the light of day. Those are just hideous robot modes. Also, for those of you getting all jazzed over the return of the chrome... don't hold your breath. I'm not convinced AT ALL that Hasbro will actually keep the chrome for the regular release figures. I'd lay money that what you are seeing here is a "one off", a P.R. gimmick, a little bling to get us salivating and then they'll pull the bait & switch on us. No way in hell is Hasbro going to go the extra mile and give us something this flashy so don't bother getting your hopes up.

The only thing I like is it looks a little more streamline and sci-fi. That means I might like the cgi model.
There would be a chance I'd like the toy if it didn't cheat form. I am sick of cheat formers. The head boffins need to understand that these things transforming is the key selling point. Once a transformer doesn't even transform and becomes one of those 'digi morphing digimon' it's lost it's whole appeal. Tfs don't pretend to go from one thing to another, a TF toy doesn't represent a magical 'morph' from one thing to another. It 100% does, practically PHYSICALLY turns from one thing to another via engineering. (lazy ideas like beast machines maximals 'shape shifting' don't count. And what the f**k was that animorphs crap? Sure let's bring toys like that back)
Whoever at hasbro thinks this is a good idea-you are an idiot. You want profits, make a good product worth buying. Stop cheaping out you big mental lunatics. I mean that sincerely.
Call me crazy, but MP Sideswipe isn't all that hard to transform, right? Sure he's a tad fragile and you may not want to hand him to an 8 year old, but if there is an 8 year old out there who can't transform him, finds him too complex, I have to wonder why it's parents haven't taught it basic intelligence. If an MP figure can be simple but 100% effective, why can't this?
They are approaching these toys from the wrong angle. I really wish somebody would tell them that.

what did i say its just going to be more of the same, i actually miss the old movie prime he at least had optimus elements to him. And is it such a big surprise that hes smaller than previous leader class figures? Guarantee hes made out of cheap plastic too. Even the chrome looks cheap, if your not going to do it right dont do it at all. Easy pass & i have a feeling my TF4 collection is either going to be the smallest in my collection or no existent. And good call on the shield looking like a mass relay from mass effect, i said the same thing when i saw it.
Current TF count: 2042

Truck mode looks nice, particularly with the chrome, on a hasbro product, but really where are the leader class pictures? Surely they'd never scale up a smaller mould to a larger class . . .

I would like to remind everyone that Hasbro told us this was coming. Everything's being dumbed down for the kiddies. This thing is tooled specifically for young kids who want a big TF. We might get the odd cool one here and there but this is what we have to look forward to save for Generations and MPs.
Speaking of which... Hey Boss Monkey, do you know if they will be showing any new Generations ish at the show? I'm reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally interested in the new Nightbeat and I really hope it's a new mold and not the IDW Goldfire mold.
