Just got mine in today. The packaging is pretty slick but would have worked better as a bookbox like the older G1 reissues. Took a look inside to inspect. Everything tied down securely with no issues. Besides the BFG subbing in for Wave's normal guns, there is one thing i found interesting. Does anyone else think the LBeak repaint looks a lot like the old 4Star bird cassette KOs?Just a thought. Everything else is pretty solid for what it is.

Hmm, I wonder if this is one of the two mystery Stamps.com packages coming in the mail Friday? Nope, figured it out, it's some stuff I ordered (and pre-paid for) last November and didn't get a notice for. Doesn't look like my Balvintron will ship until 11/30.

Balvitron has begun being shipped left and right but not many reviewers took an interest in this odd collab. Luckily for us, Youtuber That Toy Guy made a video review of the thing for us all to enjoy.

This oddity is a set of repaints of G1 Soundwave, Buzzsaw/Lazerbeak, and Ravage. Soundwave is in eye-searing yellow with pre-applied stickers all over. Unfortunately, the quality of the stickers seems to be basic "Power of the Prime" style. BuzzBeak is in white with "Energy" written in Spanish on him while Ravage cosplay as a tiger because why not.

Also, Soundwave don't come with his usual "battery" guns. Instead, he come with two of Siege Jetfire's guns with blast effects.

I had no idea who J. Balvin was until about 2 months ago when I heard him featured on a track by m-flo called Human Lost. FYI, m-flo is the group that sang the opening song Transformerz for the Transformers Adventure series in Japan.

As for Balvintron, it's a pass for me.

Picked up Balvintron just now. He is truly garish. TBH, I got him more for Lazerbeak than either the main figure or Stripes.

I actually think this will age well. It's an iconic G1 character and mold painted in garish colors. If it was a KO nobody would care, but it's official and that makes all the difference. Someone mentioned this as a G2 Soundwave. Yep. I see it. Stand him beside Action Master Thundercracker.

In hand Stripes is the worst. I forgot exactly how he looked like - one side is totally blank except for googly eyes, a random stripe design, and a tape sticker. Did they waste all their effort on Lazerbeak and forget about him? Because he feels like an afterthought.

I also think they missed a trick in inventing new characters for these guys. They'd mean more if they were their own obscure characters. Now they're just versions of other characters.

The decos for the casettes are based off of the cover art for 2 of Balvin's albums, so you could headcanon them as new characters with the names of those respective albums, Vibrancia and Energia IIRC.

Those names are used on the box alongside their normal names. Soundwave is technically J. Balvintron so they really have renamed all of them.

I mean ... Balvintron is right at the top so he's renamed. But I'm not sure the other two are properly new characters. Sure, Buzzsaw will be a new character in my headcanon, but I just think they'd be more desirable if they were canonically new characters.

Looking up the Vibras art, wow. What a terrible cover to make into a TF. There's nothing to work with. Shoulda chosen Rumble, though, since we've never had an orange Rumble.
