I know what you mean. As if they purposefully made the deadline too short and the current one is the real one.

Lo and behold, when the deadline will be almost over in October, there will still be around 1K backers missing and they'll extend the deadline yet again to the end of November. This would be Haslab Unicron's final chance. The deadline cannot go to December because of the Holidays season.

Chances that I commit are very slim. CAN1000$+ yet again for another toy is too much. Hasbro must push for an incredible last minute incentive for me to finally pull the trigger for real.

Armada all the way, man! It's the ORIGINAL first Unicron to have ever been released and he's awesome. Plus he's now relatively cheap and easy to come by because of all the other "better" versions. I'd say get the Armada. In PERFECT condition. Don't get a cheapo junker for a Unicron Shrine. Then you'll need one more of that mold in "special" colors. The Amazon, the 2010, the Green Energon, the evil black. Then there's Ark Unicron, the deluxe spaceship that is cheap. and finally, the weird Prime Arms Micron who transform into his own head.

To go with an Armada Unicron mold, you'll need a Throne of Chaos (if you can find it) or something similar to make the planet mode GLORIOUS!

I was actually talking about getting duplicate Cyclonuses (Cycloni?) to make him an armada, but I actually am planning on getting an Energon Unicron to go with my G2 (TLK) Cybertron. One of my friends growing up had the Armada version, and I've wanted one ever since. I saw one in-box a few years back at a local used game store, and I regret passing it up. Was planning on going after one of the G1 versions if the WfC version doesn't get funded, but I was scared off by the reports of mold degradation.

I like your idea to get a second Cyclonus. I did something similar: I bought a used G1 Cyclonus years ago and recently I purchased a CW Cyclonus. I did the same thing with Scourge: 2 G1 versions and 4 TR versions.

A few other ideas for you that I have: Razorclaw (universe tigerhawk repaint), Blackarachnia(universe BM Blackarachnia repaint), Fallen (Titanium), Thrust (Armada), Sideways (armada), Nemesis Prime (armada), and Minicons (Armada). Those are just what I have, there's also PotP Rodimus and PotP Nemesis Prime.

Good luck on your quest.

I know we’ve talked at length about possible features but I still find it fun; what kind of stuff could they add at this point that would push you over the edge? Or like mini Galvatron, what bonuses could they add that would push all your buttons?

A more "premium" paint job would definitely do the trick. As he is right now, this Unicron look too ordinary paint-wise. Seriously some Studio Series figures have better paint jobs.

Now all we’ve seen if I understand it correctly is the prototype which is hand painted so I mean they’re gonna touch that up a tad they gotta. What are you thinking more touch ups in the greeble or like some silver scuff battle damage type stuff? Just the colors over all? Some people have talked about the colors being off but it looks like a pretty good match to me. Maybe a deeper orangey yellow but again hand painted prototype so who knows. Seeing the teeny Unicron gallery image on the front page I’m like hmm that kind burnt orange looks pretty good.

Personally, aside from the basic colours being completely wrong, I'd like that lovely sculpted detail to be properly picked out with paint. Even minor things like the inner mouth of planet mode being painted silver would help. Some kind of metallic recess painting like the old Armada figure would be nice too. He's got all that greebling and detailed sculpting but it's all unpainted, and for the price they're asking I'd expect OG RID Sky-Byte levels of painted details.

Just like the face, there were multiple versions of the color palette. The movie had both. The cartoon was primarily the yellow-orange & blue-grey.

To say the colors are completely wrong is objectively... wrong.

Honestly, the colors look more closer to the old 1986 Hasbro toy prototype that was very yellow and very blue, rather than the orange-gold and bluish gray that Unicron was in the movie.

The colors are a very 'whatever' debate - there's justification across multiple mediums for any given palette.

I'm not sure why people are fussing about it - if you look at the Welcome to 2010 vs. Amazon Unicrons, both are valid color schemes. I prefer the Amazon one myself; I find that Unicron's (and HasLab's) to be somewhat more dynamic and visually striking. The saturated orange + grey feels more bland and less interesting. But again, that's a personal preference - not a statement of fact or supposing that something is 'wrong'.

Ideally, I would have loved for the colors of this one to have been more of a halfway compromise between the shades of the Welcome to TF 2010 one and the Amazon one. Less orange/gray than the Takara one, but less yellow/blue than the Hasbro one.

And certainly far away from the Platinum Edition with its very wrong shade of baby blue. :P

Well, I put in my order for Unicron this afternoon with Hasbro Pulse. This was when I knew I would have the money together to do so. I wasn't on the fence for this long. I knew I wanted it as soon as it was announced, but I need to be patient for everything to align before pushing the button. A week ago, I was sweating that I was gonna get my order in just under the wire, but with the deadline extended, I can breathe a little easier. At least now I can be more confident that this project with go through with an extra 30-something days to meet the 8,000 unit quota. :)

Funny thing is that there's actually a MISB Razorclaw at my local comic store, last time I checked. I also have Universe Tankor and Obsidian to fill out my ranks.

You know what addiction I wouldn't mind to sweeten the pot? A new version of Dead End, since he was based the moon that part of the Takara G1 Unicron prototype. Call it Dead End, Lithone, call it Kranix, I don't care. It'd be a cool feature, but I'm not sure how big it would have to be to be a proper moon to Unicron's planet mode.

We may see some of those things eventually. The figure won't even be released until Q1 of 2021, so we're a good year and a half away from the final product right now. You also need to consider that part of the "premium" of Unicron's price comes from the year and a half long R&D that led up to the crowdfunding announcement (plus any more that comes after the project is approved), the amount and quality of plastic to make a figure this size and make sure it is structurally sound and can withstand the dreaded "drop test," the "made-to-order" limit of the production run, and the sheer amount of human labor needed to assemble a figure this massive and intricate at the factories. Plus, shipping it from overseas will probably be a bear because of the weight involved versus the relative volume.

I know all that. But I'll be buying an almost 1000$CAN thing around two years in advance that I have no certainty of what it will finally be. That's one hell of a gamble.

Hasbro has stated that basically what you see is what you get for the color palette and the product in general. There may be slight tweaks but I can't imagine any significant change to the color palette or the figure itself but I understand 1000$CAN is a big chunk of change, especially if you're feeling unsure. Personally I'd prefer to see the color hues match closer to the '86 movie but we all have different preferences and it's impossible for Hasbro to please us all.

Just like the face, there were multiple versions of the color palette. The movie had both. The cartoon was primarily the yellow-orange & blue-grey.

To say the colors are completely wrong is objectively... wrong.

Can someone show me where in the movie Unicron was ever yellow? I've been watching this cartoon for the past 33 years and I swear to Primus I don't ever remember a yellow Unicron.

This. And thank you.

So, I've sorta made a list of the Unicronian characters I want to collect between now and when Unicron drops (assuming he's funded, of course). First thing I've checked off that list is Titaniums Fallen (I've been interested in getting him for a while), and the next should be Universe Razorclaw. Already have Titans Return Galavateon for my Galvatron, G1 Galvatron for Galvatron II, Universe Tankor and Obsidian, and RotF Sideways for the AVP one.

Absolute piss take. Why wasn't this the date from the start? I Could have made it with a three month timeframe, no chance now
