That was awesome! Now if Hasbro could just invest several million into making their Transformers like this, it should only cost about 10k for an Optimus Prime!

Not really. I mean we did get Armada Superbase Optimus Prime. This little robot in the video is quite intricate, but it's doing the same thing that Armada Optimus does. They both transform through remote control. The differences are that this is far more intricate, and rolls around like an R/C car, whereas Prime does not.
And...Prime set all of us back about $40.00

I think the fun part of transformers..Is the actual transforming part. If it was automatic then it's just a toy to watch transform. I prefer transforming my own figs and not have a chip do it for me.

It's a very cool vid. however...
Isn't the purpose of Transformers to actually manually transform the thing? Isn't that why the more complex the transformation, the cleverer the way things moves out of the way or become something else, the more cunning the engineering that went into the actual design of the toy, the way two similar cars with similar alt modes can each have a completely different path to get there, the more we love them?
I can see myself purchasing something like this as a 'special', just like Ultimate Bumblebee, but I wouldn't want all my transformer toys to be autotransform technology.

That's amazing!
Their transforming robot technology is years beyond ours.
Oh wait...we haven't even started yet.

So how long till we have tech like that, affordably in toys? It's taken up 20+ years and all we gots is Automorph.

In 20 or 30 years, when robots are overthrowing us and enslaving humanity for real, we'll know who to thank.
