Wii: Link's Crossbow Training & Wii Remote Zapper Attachment Review

Postby Autobot032 » Fri Nov 30, 2007 5:20 pm

Weapon: Switch Blade Tail
Synopsis: Extremely fun game with mucho replay value, neat accessory, cheap price ($19.82 @ Wal-Mart)

Game

Pros:

Fast paced

Various shooting game types (gallery with targets, "skeet shooting" with skulls, animals of all types, shooting ranges including a ride on Epona through Hyrule's lands, two bosses, etc.)

Medal earn system

Easy to learn, difficult to master

Graphically, it's only slightly better than a GameCube game, but it's bright, detailed, and looks fantastic.

Fun, fun, fun. (You *will* have a lot of it with this game and spend hours on it. Heck, I spent three hours straight without even knowing it.)

Twenty seven levels with varying degrees of difficulty, practice levels, even multiplayer!

Cons:

Getting the Zapper set just right can be a pain depending on the location of your Wii sensor bar and lighting conditions.

Your arms will get tired from holding it after a while, because you'll become immersed in the game and you're holding a pound (plus) item for hours...

Overall this is literally one of the most fun games I have *EVER* bought. (I'm not kidding, this is some fun stuff right here. Kids and adults alike will have fun with this. No gore either!)

A solid :BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT:

And because people complain about the lack of pictures, here's a link to IGN's screenshot archive of the game:

http://media.wii.ign.com/media/962/962748/imgs_1.html

Wii Zapper accessory

Pros:

Simple installation (Remote and Nunchuk snap in place securely, wrap the wire inside the handle, slide the cover in place and you're done. A two to three minute endeavor, if that.)

Once the game is set up, the Zapper is super accurate. It's got a nice, solid, straight lock on the crosshairs.

Two handles (one for the Nunchuk, one for the Remote) to hold the Zapper will make the gameplay easier for all ages and actually feels like a phaser rifle in your hands.

Cons:

Installation of the Nunchuk can lead to breakage of the Zapper in one part. There's a clasp that swings closed to cover the wire at the base of the 'chuk so it routes through the handle, and when you open it to funnel the wire through, the hook can snap or even break off completely, if you're not careful. (Mine snapped and cracked.)

Once it's all combined, it's heavy and after a while it weighs down your arm to an uncomfortable level. (Although part of that is the user's fault for not taking a break.)

Gets dirty easily because of your hands sweating, and the dingy dirt on the bright white plastic makes it look bad. (But it's impossible to avoid.)

Overall this is a simple and affordable solution to having a light gun for your Wii console, and it does exactly what it promises. Even with it's faults, it's a worthy accessory and definitely a requirement for shooting games like Link or Resident Evil 4. (Should work nicely on House Of The Dead coming to the Virtual Console, shortly.)

A solid :BOT: :BOT: :BOT: :BOT: Image

The game is terrific (if a little short) and enjoyable, the Zapper accessory does the job just right, and the price is unbelievably nice ($19.82 for an accessory and game!) and a worthy investment to your Wii's gaming collection.

Go get one, people. If you can...(limited numbers, one per customer, and most of the Wal-Marts in a fifty mile radius are sold out or have only one or two in stock)

Again, pics, because people get upset: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowImage ... Wii+Zapper

Weapon: Air Rifle
I am so getting this.

The game is only supposed to teach you how to use the zapper, so I can forgive any shortcomings it may have.

I already have the Wii Blaster and personally I prefer that design. Wouldn't mind getting my hands on the crossbow training though.

Agreed, but it's still a lot of fun. I'll play it 'til the disc wears out. lol

Weapon: Energo-Sword
I actually have two so that I can play Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles with my dad. Super fun, but having the trigger in the front is a bit backwards from most two-handed style guns.....

A word of caution if you have a girlfriend that is very competitive with you at video games...DO NOT beat all her high scores. And if you do, do it gracefully, because after you talk trash she'll smack you...if your girl is anything like mine that is.

....are you friggin' mad?! All of her scores?! We could've told you not to do that long before the smacking commenced!

Learn from this, man! LEARN!
