I think the "Rumble"/Drag Strip duo is meant to homage a certain episode of the original series.
But yeah, since "Frenzy"'s deco matches... whoever that is's deco, it'd makes sense for "Rumble" to be on a race car that reflects his colors.

Your right it 's a homage to the episodes when megatron creates the stunticons and sends rumble out on the pinch for some cars.
