Hey

Not sure if this has already been covered or not but i am confused about which best way to prepare a TF for painting, so far i have come across these 3 common ones

1) Clean the parts in warm soapie water and start painting when dry
2) Clean the parts then use a primer first before painting
3) Use a paint remover to take off the factory paint then start to paint (does this depend on the factory paint being a light or dark colour & the paint you are looking at using being light or dark as well?)

If anyone could give me some tips based on their personal preference and why, it would be a big help

Primer really isn't necessary for a first time custom. You want to take the figure apart as much as possible, clean the parts off and get any excessive factory paint off, for instance the flames on 2007 Movie Optimus, and apply light even coats. A sealer would be nice too to protect the integrity of the paint and wait at least a full day for drying before putting the figure back together. It took my Shattered Glass Prime 3 days to dry.
