G1 Bumblebee!

Postby UFO » Sun Apr 22, 2007 4:42 pm

This is my very first kitbash, so go easy on me. He doesn't transform.
He's made out of an RX-71...erm...RX-78 2 Gundam action figure, a Reissue Bumblebee keychain, expoxy repair strips, hot glue, sliver, black, and yellow paint.

Ver, ynice I have been wanting to articulate my reissue keychains as well but am trying to think of somehting small enough so they still transform, but yours has a very Revoltech/statue feel to it.

That yellow paint was an ass to work with and it took a good 5 or so coats of the stuff to actually get the color I was looking for. The moulding on the legs is kind of weird, it doesn't even look all that mechanical, but more of like lumpy armor. I need to take a poster from Seibertron's advice and work with the expoxy in layers and use actual tools, seeing as how the moulding was worked from using only my hands. If I can some some expoxy, I'll try and make another bot...or Con.

Once suggestion when trying to do yellow or any light color. Lay down a coat or two of a white or light grey primer. Then paint the color you want over it. Should allow you to get there without so many layers.

I generally find an warm off-white base coat is the way to go. I usually use Inscribe Desert Sand.

I used a bright yellow Krylon paint pen. I'm soo much better with those than a brush.
