As a teenager and young adult I appreciated G1 transformers, i even bouht one or two. I didnt however watch the cartoon although it is fun for sure. Since g1 I always watched the toy shelves for the return of TF. I wasnt that keen on the beast wars idea but they are fun toys for kids and include some neat figures. again i didnt watch the show, i really didnt like CGI characters then and i dont now, I was never drawn to the look so didnt really bother chasing episodes, i was more into toys. Once armada arived i really lost interest, i never saw the cartoon and the toys for the most part left me cold, same for cybertron, i feel energon superlink idea was quite cool but both those cgi animations didnt interest me.

anyway the point im trying to get to is that with the arrival of animated i find myself drawn to this cartoon, after keeping an eye on TF for 20 years i now see a cartoon that captures the fun factor of G1, its just so refreshing to have that ugly static CGI pushed aside. I also feel that post movie, hasbro is really trying to restart the whole mythos properly, by comparison im feeling that the AEC trilogy is a mere distraction, something that merely kept the line there, does anybody feel that the real core transformers has returned??

I prefer the classics style over the animation in terms of hardcore TF appreciation but i feel the animation toys are fantastic, they are outlandish but stylish and with lots of character. i reckon the kids are going to be all over this more so than the rather bland trilogy stuff. Is animation really going to continue to push TF into the mainstream (after the movie)as it was 20 years ago?

It's really only a matter of personal opinion.
There are people would say that G1 is "real" or "true" versions of Transformers and everything else is a knockoff.
There are also people who would say that Beast Wars and Beast Machines is the "real or true" version of The Transformers, and the same with G2, The G1 Japanese Triolgy, Beast Wars II, Beast Wars Neo, RiD, The Unicron Trilogy, the live action movie, and etc.
Now if you think that Animated is the "true and real" follow up or sequal to G1 than nothing that I can say or do will change your mind. I think that Beast Wars and Beast Machines are the real sequals to G1.

From I seen Animated is not very intresting looking, it's just a poor American knock off of RiD, Armada, Energon, and Cybertron.

Agreed! I personally never liked the idea of the Beast Wars/Beast Machines toy line myself...Transformers are robot-to-vehilces ONLY in my eyes.....but the TV shows was quite well written and rather interesting to follow....Beast Wars was markedly better than Beast Machines, but one runs into the other, so it is best to watch it all and pick and chose then.

I should be more specific. My notion that animated is more a continuation/restart of real TF was really something i was asking G1 fans, rather like seeing if they felt that animated was a return of the TF universe that they love. For sure there is no definitive 'true' TF and for many it could well be the fuzors or machine wars. Im wondering if animation is closer to an equivalent to G1 than anything since it ended. i think BW was the nearest so far with distinct characters (from the toys), everything that followed seemed to be a hotch potch of repaints/average figures and then with the trilogy the toys just failed to show unique characters, when i saw trilogy toys in the stores i often thought 'so which toy is this?' , the animation line has toys that are totally distinct with personality, anyway im babbling way to much......

No one is sure as to how or even if the Animated line will tie into G1.

The G1 series ends at the conclusion of the Beast Machines series, as both Beast Wars and Beast Machines continue on from the G1 era.

From what we know, we know that G1 clips from the cartoon are used as "old data files" in the animated series, leaving the ANimated series somewhat in the G1-verse, but we are unsure as to if it will tie into the G1-BW-BM timeline (perhpoas between the end of G1 and start of BW) or if it will ignore the Beast Wars/Machine series, or if it will largely ignore G1 too, just referencing it as happening a long time ago.

G2, Beast Wars, and Beast Machines are the direct sequels to the US G1 series/toy line. As far as I know RiD, The Unicron Trilogy, are not directly connected to G1.
Animated might be due to Ratchet serving in "an earlier war".

I'm not trying to flame you or anything but this has been
bothering me for quite some time.

You know every person who uses this reason against Beast Wars seems to forget that G1 had a LOT Beast bots in it the toy line, cartoon show, and comics like the Dinobots, Predacons, Seacons, Ravage, Laserbeak, Buzzsaw, Ratbat, Overkill, Slugfest, Beastbox, Squawktalk, Steeljaw, Ramhorn, the Insecticons, and Sky Lynx just to name a few.

So how can you say that the Transformers be only robots to vehicles when even early on in G1 said otherwise?

They were hardly realistic beasts, were they? At least, I don't recall any scientist suggesting T-Rex's skin was mostly grey metal with gold highlights.
