Jumpstarter-mada!!!

Postby Metroplex79 » Sun Dec 26, 2010 2:09 pm

Sometimes 2 is not enough and get in too deep, when that happens...they call for backup.

Introducing the rest of the Jumpstarter brethern. They're tough, they're mean, and they will jump into action!!!

My first 2 group shots...both have different lighting and angles.

I have no names for them yet. As you can see some are pretty much done, and some are at least 50% done...got a little anxious to show them off.

Individual close ups to come later.

Sorry, I had to do it this way. Trying to save on attachments space.

Some of these Jumpstarters were junkers that I cleaned, repaired, and painted, so some don't "transform". But if you really want, I can rig it to look like it's transformed. Just make a request in this thread, and I'll get around to it eventually...

The first few obviously, of course are the ones that's the most complete or complete. Used ReproLabels' stickers as well.

First off...I gave him a unique name, as to not confuse him with "you-know-who". Of course any of you are welcome to make a story of how he rose from a generic foot soldier to become something more.

ROBOT MODE

ALT MODE (BIG FLASH)

ALT MODE (LESS FLASH)

Secondly...I was thinking of making him a medic, but maybe he's just a soldier with a hidden talent for repairs. I just gave him a generic name, maybe it'll stay or maybe I'll change it. Latch doesn't work. Silver stickers made camera flash brighter.

ROBOT MODE

Third...some of you might see it, some might not, he has a color scheme similar to Animated Sentinel Prime. Latch doesn't work. I am trying to get that broken gun handle from his left hand...I'll get around to it eventually...

ROBOT MODE

Number 4...Silver Blud...corny name I know. Better than calling him Silverwing, which sounds like Silverbolt's brother or something. Glossy silver paint made flash bigger than expected. The red was supposed to highlight the "silvery-ness" of him.

ROBOT MODE 1

ROBOT MODE 2

ALT MODE (BIG FLASH)

ALT MODE (LESS FLASH)

Number 5, and technically Number 6 as well, are the original swapped Jumpstarters. Most of you would agree of their current basic name. You obviously don't need to see them in their alt modes, do you?

ROBOT MODES

Number 7...a really bright character Kinda inspired by G1 Wheelie and G1 Sureshot. The current name is a joke, but I might keep it. The latch for transformation is broken, thus no alt mode.

ROBOT MODE 1

ROBOT MODE 2

Number 8...is an incomplete experiment, I tried giving it a color scheme of 3 distinct shades of blue. But only 2 of them came through, the 3rd blue kinda blended with his original plastic shade. Thus I named him as a "failed experiment" If you look closely you can make out the 3rd brighter blue.

ROBOT MODE

ALT MODE

Number 9....like "Silver Blud" I was trying out the glossy silver paint. it's pretty much the same figure as Top Twist but with silver highlights.

ROBOT MODE

ALT MODE

Comments & critiques (good or bad), broken links, and questions are welcome. Again, I'll get around to doing more and completing them.

Nice use of the Jumpstarters, they look good. The one on the left w/ the white/red makes me think Jumpstarter Skyfire or Ratchet. You might just breathe new life into these.

Wholly Crud! I just starting buying these two molds to do almost the same thing. I was planning to make a decepticon :CON: clone army. I discuss my idea here: clone-armies-t73135.php

I was looking for some painting tips when I saw this thread. You did an amazing job. I really like the orange and yellow twintwist. :APPLAUSE:

I just found some KO diaclones and I was looking for the Argentinian Salt-Man X. But I guess, I could just paint the heck out of the Hasbro versions. I was planning a purple, red, and black color theme on them.

Did do take these apart at all to paint them? I was a little worried about screwing up the leg springs.

I'll have to post my results when they are finished and then we can set our clone armies against each other in heated battle.

Thanks...I'm one of those guys who go full tilt on a project, when that runs out of steam, I start another without finishing the previous. It also kinda helped when I was unemployed, but now I'm working, time is a lot more limited.

You're the only one in all the boards I posted these on, to actually like the orange/yellow one, most people like the "Iron Eagle" for obvious reasons.

I had planned on making 1-3 Decepticons from them, and a fan-fic to go along with them, a generic story with minimal details have been written down so far.

Well, I do take them apart to clean them. Being in junk bins for who knows how long, it's best to clean them. The arms and chest are the easiest to clean because you can soak them. Cleaning the back and legs are a little more time consuming, I can't use too much water because of the springs in the legs and motor attached to the back piece. I don't fully take them apart, so the springs are still in the legs while I clean and paint. So the crud that maybe lurking in those harder to reach crevices are most likely still there hahahaha.

I do not paint them while they are in pieces. It helps me focus on the overall look while I'm painting. Certain areas I have to transform them to get at certain areas, but it's not too hard. Another tip is not to try to paint the whole thing in one sitting; let areas dry so you avoid smudges. Guess it helps if you're doing more than one at the same time, so you can work on #2 and #3 while #1 is drying, and so on. I also avoid painting the screws.

I look forward to seeing your army. Hopefully I'll get the urge on weekends to complete them fully and add a few more.
