I would love to see this for once.
GoBots did it back in 1984.

What's a Gobot?
Ask Memo.

Are they advanced, though?
Yeah, they got super computers and energy constructs... Which they use to make medieval weapons for dramatic 1v1 duels between their leaders. It's a civil war being fought within a society where everyone is almost impossible to (permanently) kill, half the soldiers still use swords, WMDs are comically impractical,
the best strategic weapons consists of five or six soldiers engaging in a vertical gymnastic orgy, and the most efficient way to defeat an enemy is by literally chewing him up.
I've always thought of the use of swords and other melee weapons as a form of energy conservation for a civilization that has had a long drought on power resources. Even an electrified club or super hot sword wouldn't use close to the amount of energy that a laser powerful enough to shoot through metal would consume.
Likewise I've always thought that a large number of Transformers on both sides would regularly go into voluntary stasis also to reserve energy. The war may have gone on for millions of years, but most of those fighting in it from the start may have only experienced a few thousand.

Last year I might have agreed with you, but Hasbro having initiated Black Roritchi's release and that figure not even guaranteed a release in Japan (only four or five Hasbro Selects figures have been released in Japan) I'm not so sure anymore. Of course that's even assuming it happens at all. I just wouldn't be surprised if it was Hasbro's like I would be if it's, say, their take on Grand Maximus or Metrotitan.
