I like this for what it is - a kid's book, and I've got a 5-year old cousin interested in transformers who would LOVE this! That said, Bumblebee having those stripes and Prime having the Peterbilt-style alt-modes are simply to make them more relatable with kids to the movie counterparts they've watched(don't deny it, almost everyone has seen them). After all, it's not as if kids understand the meaning of "continuities" well, so if they were to see Bee as a VW (doubt it would happen since the twat-riddled VW are all still 'ooooh we don't support fighting robots') and Prime as a flat-nosed truck they'd have alot of question-marks in their heads. Lastly, what's so Mary-Sueish about Drift? So what if a new bot's introduced into the G1 roster? What is this, sacrilege and heresy of some sort? If he had been there since 1984 I doubt anybody would be complaining.

That said, the book is certainly NOT made to be heavily and intensively scrutinised under the eyes of older (adolescent, adult in this case unless you happen to be a parent) fans who are expect gunfire, war, explosions and suspiciously bloodlike oil pools and general mayhem in all the comic books they come across. Don't like it? Whatever, that lil' kid standing next to you reading it in the bookstore is probably enjoying it loads. Just go for All Hail Megatron, Maximum Dinobots and all the other titles. Seriously, it's like forcing a Gun-nut to review a spring-loaded nerf.

This is cute and awesome! I love everything about the comic... except the fact that Drift is getting shoved down my throat for unnecessary reasons.

I rather liked the pink-shirted chap on the back cover of the book. It's good to see IDW being so open-minded by portraying men who wear pink shirts in an affectionate light, I must say.
