Just a quick disclaimer, this painting guide isn't meant to step on any toes or rewrite the ways of painting TF figures. There's no right or wrong way to paint and this is just a step-by-step guide because people have been requesting I make one. I've recieved well over 200 emails asking for this guide and numerous posts on the different TF boards. So here you go, a basic guide that shows how I paint step-by-step. The guide is split up into two parts for easy viewing. It also features my new custom Swinwave too, heh. I'll have to post a thread about him later but he's up on my site.

Thanks, Jin. I've always primed my figures and could never figure out why even the primer had problems sticking. I'm going to try the figure bath method you mentioned. Kudos!

wow, I can't believe you clear coat with the figure still assembled. I'm amazed it doesn't gum up all the joints, or seal shut hoods and such.

I too like painting figures while they're still together, keeps me motivated, and if it does end up sitting on the shelf a while its not a bunch of random pieces I loose the screws to or forget how to re-assemble.

I don't disassemble it, but I do mid-transform it so the parts aren't all together. That's the trick when painting too. And you wait a t least 5 hours, overnight even before transforming it so the clear coat cures and doesn't gum anything up.
