2 foot tall cardboard Laserbeak!

Postby crazysteve » Fri Oct 13, 2006 12:40 pm

Check out cardboardcostumes.com The guy makes stuff you would expect of a TF fan like costumes of Prime and Megatron and even Bumblebee. But scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page and you'll see what looks to be a 2 foot tall transformable Laserbeak made of cardboard! hOLY CRAP! Imagine this thing in the art show at Botcon.

(Also check out the pictures on the 'Appearances' page. There's a huge cardboard AT-AT costume that takes two people to man it!)

I think I'm seeing the beginnings of a new trend here. At Botcon, the guys from Kingbotz.com ushered in a new era where the sexy exciting thing in Transofmers customizing is now making big robots. Heck, it wasn't just Shane of Kingbotz at Botcon doing it, either. I remember one person kitbashed a Fort Max, too.

So is BIG now in? Is BIG is the new coolness? Can I see all the 3d entries at Botcon '07 being at a minimum 3 feet tall? Well, maybe not, but I think the bar has been raised.

I think a 2 foot long Laserbeak would be just the right scale for a 10 ft Optimus, wouldn't it...?

I think you're right. "Big" is the new thing. There's also a guy making a gigantic MP Metroplex over at TFans.

For my next BotCon project I plan on making a life sized, completely transformable, ultra-realistic, Alternators Smokescreen. I already have the Impreza and the hydraulics are coming along nicely as is inventing the energon fuel cell technology. The only thing that might be a pain is making him sentient. :? But I'm pretty sure I'll win the $125 prize! :P

BTW that AT-AT is pretty cool but nothing beats Pabst Blue Ribbon Man!!!

I'm sure if you spend a couple of weekends and several trillion dollars on it, you'll figure it out.

Just signed a $3.2 Billion contract with NASA. But they want half of the prize money. :x

Actually, I like the idea of a Con better. Maybe I could program him to do my bidding.

I was just thinking that a Con would most likely try and kill us all so a few Bots could be in place as a countermeasure! If the Con works for you deactivate the Bots!
