It's a re-release, I think... For some reason, I was thinking about the RTS KO version... If the mods want to close this thread, I'm fine with it.


Note that there are differences with the previous KO release. Check the portions that have been "boxed" in the pictures.

I'm thinking you might be right. I have one of the "Double Shattered Glass" KOs (was the later version that had cracked glass decals on both sides of the windshield) at home and will compare these new images to my version later and let y'all know. Honestly, the joints were a little loose on the figure, but he was a damn good replica EXCEPT for the blaster/smokestacks - those were simply crap and didn't fit together very well or on vehicle mode. Also, they were molded black with no paint apps, these pictures have the proper silver paint apps.

I think what's really throwing me off are the "2008botcon" text on each of the pictures.

Im not really digging that orange s**t on the windows. Glad I got the other KO with the double shattered windows. I hope they re-release the black convoy with the red windows again. Mine had a cracked part.

I have the blue Kold Konvoy. Not really a fan of the quality on it and that leads me to question the quality on this.

Ok, to preface - I'm comparing a "Double Shattered Glass" KO (DSG)to the version posted here as I do not have the original KO of SG Prime:

The purple seems to be a little more vibrant in the new pictures, as well as the gold and green paint apps (unless this is the display version, much like the photoshop'ed images Hasbro uses). The murky orange/brown on the windshields are darker than DSG.

The little black piece outlined in the first image is purple on the DSG, and I'm not sure if this is really significant or not.

Smokestacks are painted silver here, DSG has straight black smokestacks/gun.

Looks like the new pictures show a better detailed head compared to DSG. Again, the gold paint seems to pop better. DSG's facemask seems to round at the top, this one is more pointed.
Autobot logos on the shoulder are beter pronounced as opposed to DSG's bad tampographs.

Some of the arm pieces on DSG are actually clear/translucent plastic, so if the new KO is a solid color than the plastic might be a bit better quality.

Takara/Hasbro copyrights are retained on this release, on DSG they were removed.

So, if this is a new release, I welcome the idea that the paints look better. I also hope that the gun/smokestack mold was tweaked, because DSG's feels very cheap and doesn't even fit properly. I'm not sure what else could've been done to improve the mold, but it's not like we're getting any further details here. Maybe this is more of a "buyer beware" because it looks more like the official SG release?

Also note that the face is not squished.

f89ks sake i havent purchased a single transformer in over 4 months now because of kotoys being closed down and hasbros lazy ass excuse to keep pumping out the **** movie toys and craptacular prime toys. I really am wondering if i should just quit this hobby seeing as how i havent purchased anything in months

Chimungmung has plenty of KOs. And there's at least two other places that carry KOs of this nature (can't remember them off the top of my head). So there's 3 other options for lovers of KO TFs.

KOToys was only better after their items went on clearance. At other places they never really seem to.

chimung charges WAY to much for kos and he asks a small fortune for postage. Not only that but he never seems to be up for much in the way of business sense...

what i mean by that is that with kotoys tom and kate knew i would always buy from them in bulk so considering i would buy from them direct (not use the store menu - ie paypal them for what i wanted directly after we agreed on somert) they would lower the price a tad for me considering i would always buy somert every month or so

The guy at chimung cant seem to see this business sense and just states NO.....im just asking for something like $5 off on certain things considering what i would be ordering would be over $200 and yet he cant seem to see this obvious door way for money every month or so

so yeah i dont like chimung if the man isnt smart enough to see an easy $200 on his door from a constant return buyer every month or so

as for acestoystore isnt that just basically bulk stuff that 1 person got from kotoys and then chose to screw us all over when kotoys closed down? suddenly he was selling the chms rainmakers for what? $90-120? i got those from tom and kate for $30...which is the same price that guy also got them for....so yeah....low ball move. sorry i dont slide that way

Lots of angst in that post... Why not just get in contact with someone from HK or China and then do business from there...

Ace's toy store charges THE ORIGINAL PRICE for those things. That's how much KOToys charged for them until they went on clearance. I don't give KOToys a pass on those prices; they were quite high when things first came out.

I can see more of your point when you buy in bulk. KOToys was also a distributor, so of course they would allow bulk purchases. Chimungmung isn't. And neither are the other places I'm thinking of. But there's still plenty of other places you can buy KO toys form. It's time to move on. KOToys is not coming back.

what are you talking about? kotoys has still been in business for months, you just talk to them directly

its only in the last month since the whole - down for maintanece- crap came on the website that you cant get in contact with them anymore

Also kate etc never said they were a distributer its just comman sense to sell loads to someone slightly cheaper if you know they will come back and buy more from you - its a simple logic of -Be nice to customer+customer comes back+more money for you

If a store doesnt have this simple intelligance then they dont deserve my money and personally i hope hasbro shut down chimung etc considering there doing exactly the same thing kotoys did yet somehow are still able to sell kos on there websites without any trouble??

Im pretty sure in about another 3-4 months im probably just gona quit this hobby all together as IQ levels seem to lower in the whole tf fandom as a whole (by this i mean people being petty about kos and extreme collectors causing nothing but problems and then scalpers and even the companys that run them themselves not selling what sells well)

i used to enjoy collecting transformers but these days i feel annoyed and disapointed with it. I mean this new ko botcon prime looks ok....i dont like the poo on the windscreen but it looks ok. i would like to buy one.....buy one at what chimungs probably gona ask tho? $40 and then $25 for postage because the man refuses to refund postage that isnt used (ive purchased stuff from him in the past and when he sends to the uk he always over charges me on postage and when i say how come you charged x amount for postage but it only cost this instead......no responce)

I just know that if i could get this from kotoys i could say 'hello kate i would like to buy this this and this' and there responce would probably be $10 a figure and $30 for postage (i would probably be buying 12 figures so 30 for postage is actually good for a large box being sent to the uk)

yet i know if i asked chimung or anyone else then there gona scalpe me $30-$40 for a TOY and then rip me off on postage

Yup.

Quit collecting and find a different hobby / forum.

I'd say having most of their inventory wiped out from their online store counts as being "out of business" even if they're still in business on an informal basis.

They take wholesale orders. That makes them a distributer. Whatever they say, it does. That's the prupose of wholesaling. Unless you want to argue grammer and terminology and I'm wrong on some technical level.

Chimungmung doesn't seem to do wholesaling. This is what your issue is. But wholesaling isn't a requirement. It's not "business sense" if that's not the kind of business they're in. I mean, I can kinda see how you'd like KOToys a lot if you took advantage of their wholesaling option, but I don't see the point in getting mad at another store for not having that option.

Anyhow, yeah, this forum as a whole doesn't like KOs, and scalpers (although there's some here who like them fine and others who don't care). That's just how it is. If it really, REALLY bugs you, I'm sure there's a more KO friendly type of forum. I don't think collecting is the issue here, it's probably just this forum for you.

I have had no complaints shopping with Tony @ Chimungmung, its been a pleasant transaction everytime.

I have just ordered the KO Shadow Scyther via A2Z Toy Store who seem quite comprehensive, well stocked and fairly informative. they have kept in touch via emails with confirmation, shipping info, tracking number etc. Worth taking a look!

Back on topic:
Still not onboard with this Shattered Glass thing. That cracked and scuffed paint look just looks like a junior painting lesson gone wrong in my opinion.

I own a KO black Classics Optimus which Im happy with.
Unfortunately my work computer isnt displaying the new pictures Daimchoc posted, so if D or anyone could hard copy them into this thread that would be great!

wtf ever happened to that PRIEMEUM EDITION shadow scyther? the one that was ment to be for botcon rodimus? more purple ect rather than red in places and was ment to come with the targetmaster gun etc

Has that just been cancelled or is it on a serious back burner?

A2Z still have it listed but as a pre-order so I wouldnt hold my breath on that one.

While I'm no fan of KOs, I gotta say .... that KO Prime looks like a good copy. At least visually.

They kinda messed up the tint on SG Prime's windshields, though.

Does anyone know where you can get a ko sg optimus??

At this point, you'd be hard pressed to find one, at least at a decent price. You can find plenty of KO Shattered Glass Masterpiece Primes on the secondary market, but if you want the above look and scale you're probably better off looking for a regular Classics Prime and re-painting it. That said, finding any version of Classics Prime isn't cheap these days.
