As far as I know, an eraserhead was never made for the DX figures.

It makes a lot of sense actually. Exkaiser isn't anywhere near as popular in the West as GaoGaiGar, probably on account of it being a very kiddie-centric show and looked quite dated.

I don't really see that any of the characters look much like G1 characters (not US G1 anyway), so that's not much of a reason to bring it out.

The "Giest" characters, the bad guys in Exkaiser were repainted G1 Dinobots. Apparently they didn't change their images all that much for the toon. Makes you wonder if there was a thought to port the show over into the US as a TF series. That's true about GaoGaiGar, I've known the name for years before I ever heard of the Brave Series. From what I understand the series was the most popular by far of the Brave line. Yeah kiddie-centric, one of the lead characters in GaoGaiGar is a 7 year old who works for the government; that's a mature theme right there.

I've just seen some animation clips and while I can see the similarity because I'm looking for it, I'm not sure kids would have made the connection - the alt modes are different, the colours are wrong, the heads are different, plus they're on the wrong side!

I'd be suprised, Exkaiser came out in 1990, and TF's had been dead in the US for 3 years already by then.

It was a kids show, so obviously there would be a young lead for kids to identify with. That fact doesn't stop the show having a far more mature tone than Exkaiser, which was more light-hearted and less serious. GGG features very little humour and deals with many serious issues.

ohh, I think I made a terrible mistake like when I laughed during all the sad parts of "Monsters Ball." Seriously though I think there was some unintentional humor; That Col. fellow was over acting almost as bad as William Shattner. About the Giest fellows, that sounds just like G1; the cartoon characters look nothing like the toys!
