- Weapon: Switch Blade Tail
I finally received my Crossfire Superion set from BBTS.
For me, it's a mixed bag.
Positives:
-A slew of weapons and accessories for the Aerialbots.
-Working ankle joints in combined form!
-A much more solid feeling, more stable figure. (Poses hold very well.)
-Looks fantastic.
Negatives:
-The plate that forms the ankle joint in combined form, makes armor mode (Silverbolt) feel extremely fragile and frustrating when trying to connect the fists for storage.
-The radar dish only works one way (from what I can tell, because I tinkered with it for at least 10 minutes trying to get it to attach) and it would be nice if one end was marked or something, because it crumbles in your hands if you don't do it right.
-The chrome on the radar/foot assembly wears off if you plug it into a painted wing socket. (really not happy about that one, at all.)
-Parts of it are extremely thin and feel rather fragile, though to be fair, I've bent these pieces out of shape (not on purpose) and they never gave way, never broke, so it might just feel fragile, rather than actually be it.
-Placing the armor on the legs of the arm jets actually makes it stress as it slides in place to secure itself around the tailfins. (Yeah, not a happy camper when it stresses right out of the box.)
Overall thoughts:
Well, I'll be honest. I bought Crossfire 2 when it came out, and I was completely impressed. It's gorgeous. So, yeah, after having the Bruticus set, I'm a little spoiled. I don't deny this. However, my negative opinions on the Crossfire 1 set are justified.
Yes, it does add a great deal to your Aerialbots set.
Yes, it does make the combined mode a much, much better robot.
Yes, it does look good.
But...
It does feel fragile. (And it may not be! I'll be fair.)
It does lack a certain punch. (The CF2 set just packs a wallop, even just in looks.)
It doesn't do nearly as much as the CF2 set does, yet commands a price equal to or higher.
Is the set worth buying? Not a simple yes or no.
Do you own Superion in either Energon/Superlink or ROTF/Universe colors? YES.
Can you get it at a reasonable price? YES.
Is it worth more than the $70.00 that BBTS is asking? HELL NO.
Do you have to resort to eBay prices? HELL NO.
I'll be honest about the pricing... the original $50.00 price tag (or was it $45?) was too much for me, so I skipped it. After getting a taste of what FansProject is capable of, I had to have it, but not at eBay prices. Especially not at Snowman version prices. Egad. So, when BBTS said "Here ya go, $70.00" I jumped right on it.
Do I regret it? No.
Do I enjoy the set? Yes.
Do I think it's worth $70.00? Absolutely not. I can't even imagine how depressed I'd be right now, if I had paid eBay prices for this set. I mean, as nice as it is, there's just no way in Hell that it's worth $100-150 or more. Absolutely not. For those prices, I'll use twist ties to make hands, and use the money to buy more TFs.
If you were lucky enough to get the set at it's original price, right on. Congrats.
If you were unlucky enough to get it at eBay prices, I'm sorry.
If you can afford the BBTS price, go for it, because it's better than nothing, and most certainly far, far more affordable than other options and this will be your last chance, most likely.
Bottom line:
The set is good, but not great.
It's not really worth the BBTS price, but it's a huge savings considering the rarity of this piece.
If you have Superion and want to make him better, get this set.
Just...don't bleed yourself dry to do it. It's not even remotely worth that kinda dough.
A Commander set? Eh...yeah.
Protector? YES.
Warbot? YES.
CF2 at it's original price? YES.
This? Don't get hosed. BBTS or nothing.

Ello. This is a little thing I like to call ...
GYROTRON'S INTERNET REVIEWS
No videos, no pictures, just my personal reviews on new toys I get.
I should do a lot, because I recently have bought G2 Bumblebee, Generations Blurr, and G1 Scavenger, BUT I am just going to focus on one for now: Generations Blurr
GENERATIONS: BLURR
Color Scheme
9 out of 10
The Color Scheme is excellent, however I would've added a little bit more blue to it.
Articulation and Weapons
Three syllables
Ex-cell-lent
10 out of 10 for the Articulation
9 out of 10 for the weapons.
I think the rifle's just a little too long.
OVERALL
9.5 out of 10.
The only thing I have a complaint on, is, well, his hood kind of gets uncompatable at time to time. It's easily fixable though.
Well, what are your opinions on Generations Blurr? Leave a reply Bee-Low. It's a Bumblebee pun.
Bye.

On your last review I said there was little useful information but I take that back. You do say plenty about articulation so actually I think your reviews are good as well as funny.
But seriously: the head doesn't turn? WTF?

These reviews are great! the head does turn, just not much. you get about 45 degrees of rotation left and right, but the shoulders get in the way.
Keep 'em coming.

Very informative - you've answered the question about whether it's bad QC or bad engineering!
Great review! Now I feel I know what crap to expect when I get him so I won't be shocked and appalled by the flaws as I'll have got it out of my system before he arrives.
