in general Rodimus Prime is about twice as strong as Ultra Magnus, because of the Matrix. He has the experience of Optimus, Sentinel and Maximus Prime, not to mention Alpha Trion with in his core so he can pretty much out match a predictable soldier type like big Blue.

Yeah I think that with the Matrix Rodimus would win.

Eh? You're mixing continuities here.

Anywho I vote Magnus (UK comics version), he stood up to Galvatron and lived.

Is there any specific references to their relative strength in the comics or cartoon? I can't remember any, so it seems that we must judge based on their specs.

rodimus is a lot stronger a lot SMARTER and could use ultra magnus as a mop to clean up ultras own blood from the battle

Though the cartoons and the comics did make out Rodimus to be a whimp, i'd still think Rodimus has what it takes to beat Magnus. Can you imagine a Rodimus Prime who had the same 'I don't give a damn' attitude of the Rodimus in Energon? And plus he didn't have to live perpetually in the shadow of a legend and also completely unafraid to use his power? That should have been the Rodimus most people wanted to see.

Okay, I'm gonna weigh-in here. It's tough to differentiate the respective continuities and the character relative strengths there. But even though I don't care too much for him I think the edge goes to Rodimus. It's not the matrix that tilts this one for me, but his unpredictability. If we're going by the cartoons here, then Rodimus got his ass handed to him by Optimus even when he had the matrix and it's powers. Magnus is very strong(perhaps stronger) than Rodimus, but he's very rigid. I think that if Rodimus picked his shots and used speed to his advantage, he'd come out on top.

okay you guys are forgeting somthing here rodimus was hot rode and pretty much just got a power boost his a hot shot air headed kid yeah he has a lot of power but he doesn't know how to use it like magnus and magnus has my exp in battle then him also magnus is smarter and could proable find rodimus's weak point easy so i say magnus
