This topic has spoilers and speculation, so be warned!!!

Well... I have a theory about how the third season is going to be, so I'll put it here...

It has already been confirmed that the Predacons are a separate faction allied to the Decepticons. So we're gonna have beasts for the Cons

The Fall of Cybertron Dinobot comic was said to 'lead directly into the third season' somewhere. So the Bots are gonna have beasts too, in the form of Grimlock and his companions.

I think that to get things even, the Bots are having beasts too. However where the Predacons are abstract, mythical animals, the Bots are going to be real animals, extinct or not.

Based on this speculation, here is another. Takara has already shown that Smokescreen is a remold of PRiD Knockout. Tak has recently shown that they release minor characters as recolors. So my guess is that Smokey is going to become a beast maybe, and Hasbro is waiting to release him in his primary form for the third season, whatever it is...

First, we knew Smokescreen was going to be a repaint of Knock Out all along. We were just hoping he'd be slightly retooled to accommodate his wings.

Second, Smokescreen is sure as hell not a minor character. You could consider him a secondary character, or even part of the main cast at this point, but not a minor character.

Also, Smokescreen has been shown to have a Cyberverse Figure (with Cyberverse Knock Out's lower half) that is based on his current incardination rather than a beast.

Although the Dinobots have been hinted at a lot lately, and at this point it's highly possible for their introduction.

Let's not let the sub-title of "Beast Hunters" make us think that all vehicle based Transformers are going to discontinue. The Autobots are going to be vastly outnumbered, and need upgrades. The writers have told us to watch out for upgrades before. The toyline confirms that.

Not to mention a [horrible] Soundwave upgrade

Also, there's a rumor we're getting Jazz & Perceptor in Season 3 as well.
