Well, the first one they did was already pretty modern and kinda the perfect depiction of him in toy form. Not a whole lot to improve upon when they got it right the first time.Nemesis Destron wrote:So BBTS has the latest 3rd Party release for Drift by MMC and I got to thinking why hasn't HasTak even considered delivering a modern version of this guy?![]()
I wager there would be plenty of fans that would so want this. Well perhaps the Powers have this figure in the works for 2025.

His more "futuristic" cybertronian form is yet to be made.
If they do, let's hope he will be his own mold, not a lame-ass repaint of something else.

Really no room for improvements at all? I feel more superior articulation alone makes for a great reason to get a modern version. Well let's see what 2025 brings!

Emerje wrote:I do think it's weird that Drift has gotten so few figures since his initial release. I'm sure Hasbro would say it's to prevent confusion with the movie, but RID Drift also happened. Drift was the first big addition to the G1 lineup in years, they even retconned him into G1 stories. And then... nothing, just one figure from Hasbro and nothing else, not even a version of Deadlock. Meanwhile, how many Windblade figures have we gotten since 2014? Four if you don't count Takara Tomy versions and repurposed figures. Heck, Cyberverse is now on her third figure, all different molds. At the very least newer fans deserve an affordable option.
Emerje
True. IDW Drift is super popular, yet he basically have just 1 figure.
Meanwhile, Windblade. Windblade everywhere.

TBH, I'm surprised they haven't made several all gold deco releases from that one episode. It's an easy thing to paint all one color, though maybe demand isn't there due to scene specificity. Yet they don't mind doing battle damage versions that are likely more costly. lol
After getting RID Strongarm I'm kind of wanting that version of Drift.

But most of all would anyone even be interested in that to make it worth their trouble? Because it's not like Hasbro could repaint it to get further use of the mold.
Hero Mashers was the perfect place for that, and they totally missed the boat.

I wanna say sometime during the beginning of December. Maybe even during November after Thanksgiving.Nemesis Destron wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I picked up mine from a local GameStop, if that counts.Nemesis Destron wrote:I got Leader Armada Galvatron from eBay today, but did this it ever make it to stores?![]()
Yeah that counts...how long ago was that?
EDIT: No, that's not right. I checked my emails and found that the purchase was made on November 24th, 2024, just a few days before Thanksgiving.

Well, it was also the only Galvatron that that GameStop had. They also had one Leader Soundwave (which I also bought), two Core class Energon Galvatrons, and one Deluxe Quake. Very few TFs overall, but all ones from that same wave.Nemesis Destron wrote:Sabrblade wrote:I wanna say sometime during the beginning of December. He's currently on shelves in the UK (Smyths), could be one of those weird ones that shows up here but barely appears in the states.Nemesis Destron wrote:I got Leader Armada Galvatron from eBay today, but did this it ever make it to stores?

Incidentally, I picked up my Galvatron at Gamestop the week before Christmas (no Soundwave) but never saw him or Soundwave at retail before that. Have not see Deluxe wave 4 or any of the final wave stuff yet at retail. Now that I think about it, on Studio Series I haven't seen a new Core all year or a Leader since Concept Megatron. Thankfully nothing has been too hard to find online this year.

I was curious to look up Smyths thinking it was just a retail store but I was really surprised how huge they are not just in the UK. It clearly took me back to when Toys R Us once existed here coast to coast and now just memories of what once was.
I would totally make it a point to shop at one if I ever took a holiday to the UK and I wish for you all that they never go under!!!

They slowly moved into the gap left behind by TRU, for sure, and are about the only physical store you'll fairly reliably find retail TFs at here, outside of the most basic for-kids lines. Wish we had more options but glad we have this one!
(Not that it's all sunshine and roses - a retail price Leader is still $70 over here...)
