Yes, now I'm desecrating Classics Prime with a rendition of alter ego. Pictures suck, I know, but it's just a head on an upper torso. A head that can look and down, mind you.
Piranacon, you're right. This one doesn't need nearly as much work to the vehicle mode. But, this time the shoulder cannon won't have to be removed for transformation.
I'm nearly finished with him, above the knees. Mostly detail painting left, then I can tackle the lower legs.
What looks like light grey, or light tan is actually a metallic color called steel. It really does look like unfinished steel. On my monitor, the last picture has is closest to the true colors, even though I turned down the color correction on that one. I don't know where that red shift came from. The optic strip is covered with gold chrome trim strip. It gives a good mirrored gold look. The white on the marker lights is just a base coat before the silver and yellow that will be going on there.
wpw well done bro that looks realy profesional, i havent bought any of the classics yet but id definatly buy a few of those, the steel colour looks great with the blue
I kind of liked the look of the panel detail, where I plated over the side vents. But, once it was plated they looked kind of uneven. Haven't decided if I want to leave them, or smooth and fill everything. I need to take the forearms back apart, and get paint inside the elbow areas, and there's the usual paint rub issues to be dealt with. Right now, I want to get the new rooftop fairing built.
Nicely done, son. A little tip, just in case you hadn't spotted it, which I'm applying to my Motormaster 'bash. Unless you've bulked out the face a lot (I can't really tell how far out it comes), you can turn his head around so it tilts face down in truck mode, and you can leave the vane off without it looking daft. You've probably done it already, but I can't see at the angles you've shown, and there's bound to be someone who hasn't noticed yet...
Turning the head around makes the "brim" above the eye area hit some the raised parts inside the back. I need to make a new fairing, anyway, It'll be housing his shoulder cannon.
After a long delay, I've been working on this bash again. I'm down to just needing to finish a lot of little details (like the missiles for that missile rack) and finishing up the smokestack gun. The gun has it's biggest mods finished. (no pictures of it, yet)
Not sure if I'm gonna keep that pommel, on the sword.
That is kicking some proper arse! I love all the little details you've modded to make it look not-Prime. Can't wait to see the new vehicle mode, if only to see how you store those weapons...
I'm liking the idea - I assume the gun is more of full-blown shotgun affair in robot mode - but I can't help thinking the barrels look a bit too long and ungainly... he's really going to want to avoid low bridges! Is that deliberate; do you have something that you're adding to the stacks that'll make them look more proportionate?
I absolutely love the cab-over, though. That Autobot sign looks tamped - how did you pull it off?
I just wanted the stacks that long. I didn't really realize how disportionatly long they are, untill you said something. Guess I've been looking at too many pictures of turtle top trucks. I might cut them down a little, but the gun mode looks pretty cool, with the long barrels and short body.
I'd love to see how the gun mode looks. I don't think you'd want to cut off more than about 1cm from the ends of the stacks, though; that should still look cool in gun mode (even if it is slightly more 'sawn-off'!).
1cm sounds about right. Not gonna be able to do much work on it, tonight. I have a web comic to work on. I'll try to get a picture that shows the gun mode, though.
