Excelent, Soundwave is my favorite Transformer
. I just hope they'll actually bring out the character and not just the name... And I hope they'll give him a good look that resembles his G1 look (colors, face) and his original voice done by Frank Welker. And his original voice fits extremelly well in the movie, so I hope Mr.Bay won't come to us full of BS again.

Optimus Prime: Great... but how are we gonna explain to capellamusic the hole on his wall?
Megatron: Hmm... a free natural air conditioning system?

I still don't understand why he can't be a cassette player (aside from the resizing). I mean, the Decepticons can't tell the difference between Earth modern science and Earth crap. Just have them copy something from a flea market!

In a Galaxy Far Far Awry issue 1: Serial Fiction Sideshow now for sale.
Issue 2: Home Sweet Home Invasion also for sale.
Back issue 3: Technophobia coming soon. And you can help!

It would be great if Soundwave went to a Toys'R'Us and scanned the Hasbro commemorative reissue

That's some decent news.
honestly, the best form for Soundwave would be one of the Army's new, experimental microwave tanks. The dish on top would be perfect to create different sonic blasts, thus earning his name. BTW those microwave tanks are awesome...and the 'Cons seem to focus on authority and military vehicles anyways...

Actually, Soundwave was suppose to be a helicopter but then the name was changed and eventually became Vortex and then Blackout when they saw that wouldn't work.
They better get Welker.

I'm happy Soundwave is in there, but I hope he won't look as ugly as Megatron or monkey Starscream. Still, I hope they have the voice down, that would be major too

Re: HOLY TAPE CASSETTE BATMAN!!! SOUNDWAVE IN TF2!!!
thats great but i wouldnt want to see is soundwave being the sixe of freanzy leave that to the other transformer possiblay ravage, ( rumble lazorbeak and others) it be weird if theres a small transformer in the film with the name of one of the big ones soundwave, cliffjumper, rodimus, shockwave, for example.
if soundwave talks in this one they need to make voice electronic like just like in the animated series thats what made soundwave for me in the first place was his voice and the little drones he pops out every so often

Re: HOLY TAPE CASSETTE BATMAN!!! SOUNDWAVE IN TF2!!!
Haha, monkey Starscream. Whenever I see him in the movie I imagine a a giant Dorito chip with limbs.
I don't understand the idea as to why he has to be a cassette player (though I did enjoy the idea of him scanning a cassette player at a flea market idea, that was pretty clever). I don't see that working well in the movie version. All the Decepticons are various types of war machines (or a cop = powerful authority symbol) and then mighty Soundwave turns into an outdated piece of 80's technology? "Beware humans, or I will eat your cassette tapes!" Give him an awesome vehicle mode, but let him resemble his G1 look.
Either way, I would bet that after the movie airs that 90% of the fanboys/girls will throw a fit anyways. Might as well set yourself up for dissapointment now.

Microwave tank will fit Soundwave well. I thought this kind of tank is just for video games. (Generals, Red Alert, etc.) So they're really making this into a real tank?

I agree. My eyes roll every time I read "Soundwave should be a tape deck" That's just not a good idea. I trust the crew will do the right thing with Soundwave. I didn't get any of the figures from TF1, but I will get the Soundwave action figure for TF2. Good news. Ravage & Rumble would also be great.
I have watched TF1 enough to except the changes. It is G1 based & the DVD states it several times. Its not beast wars or that cybertron stuff. So expect them to get Soundwave updated for 2009.
Now that they can afford it. We will get more Decepticon interaction.
There is no excuse for TF3 to not be done properly!!!

If there were 2 things UI really didn't like about the first movie they were A) Lack of real character development amongst a lot of the Decepticons, although Barricade was cool and B) not enough "familiar" Decepticon characters.
By putting Soundwave in there, they can take care of both issues pretty quickly.
They made the first movie a little more for the mainstream so here's hoping now that they have the mainstream audience in tow, that they make this one more for the fans.
I didn't hear Welker's Megatron voice in the Transformer's game, was it really that bad? I've heard his recent Scooby Doo stuff and it's been fine, plus Welker has actually still been active in the business unlike Cullen who had been semi-retired. If you don't want to give Megs to Welker that's one thing but toss us all a bone and let him do Soundwave.

Yeah, I saw a demonstration of the tank on Yahoo a while back. It's one of the new non-lethal weapons the Army is looking into (since our Army isn't supposed to kill anyone anymore) for things like riot control. It's got a full mile range and works instantly, even on trained soldiers.

While I can't say I'm surprised, this is excellent news to hear. I doubt this is disinformation; they were trying to get Soundwave done in TF1, and ended up with Blackout and Frenzy. Even before we were told we'd have our chains pulled, there was that statement Soundwave would be brought in "when they could do him right". I look forward to it.

I just hope all the Decepticons that we saw in TF1 will be back for this one. Hell if they can revive Megs they can also revive the others.

HOLY TAPE CASSETTE BATMAN!! = Indeed.
Soundwave will rock. If he is voiced by Welker.
I would wish for a tag team fight in the sequel, although it'd be highly unlikely to put in Blaster.
Like Barricade and Soundwave vs. Blaster and Bumblebee.
It'd be like a soundblast-off between Blaster and Soundwave.
(Pun intended)

This is great news.........if its true.
I'm not getting my hopes up till I see some offical character designs.
Really.
I felt that most of the ST films were great.
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan was awesome.
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock was very well writter and produced.
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home was more of a family flick [in more ways then one] and it had a message....something that is part of ST's hertige.
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country again a great film great writting and again it had a message.
Star Trek: First Contact this film had wide appeal to a general movie goer.Lots of action.
