This is a good point, and something I hadn't considered. This is why you can't find merchandise anymore for Star Trek, Star Wars, or Marvel.

Star Trek for sure is pretty much non existent, but marvel has a large footprint at retail with Star Wars closing in a close third. So I'm not sure if you were being sarcastic or not, as your statement seems 2/3 false.

Right, there's no expiration date on fandom. These properties have become major commercial lynchpins of media and toy companies, and we have corporate suits, creative personnel, and fans all keeping the properties alive.

Even "G1" as a category isn't bound to a specific generation. Evergreen properties like Cyberverse and Earthspark use G1 as a reference point even if the designs or characters didn't originate in the cartoon, and introduce the franchise and elements of the G1 brand to a new generation. The early indications are that the Skybound comics series will do the same, and even as comics are disproportionately read by older fans, they're not exclusive to that demo. Yes, collectors will age out of the hobby, but as long as there are new ones, the franchise isn't going anywhere. We have plenty of recent examples to keep the faith there.

I see Star Trek figures at both Target and Walmart all the time. Granted, they're only in the Collectors section near the Electronics section rather than in the Toys section, but they're there.

You can see what an expired IP is. Where there is no representation beyond their initial debut EG Pirates of Dark Water, Ulysses 31, Mighty Max, Galaxy Rangers, Starcom etc

In other words, the Transformers, Star Wars and Trek are not applicable.

Oh, Starcom toys did make a comeback very recently. They were just called "Lightyear" for some reason, and now stores just can't rid of them.

Several 3P's have fallen foul of that. Either rebranding (for legal reasons) or Rescale the line, (for money reasons) IE Halloween Toys brief Skeleton Warriors revival a few years ago. The dormant fanbase doesn't like that.

That, or nothing more than a one wave, unmarketed toyline and the dormant fanbase doesn't even know they exist.

It's almost funny how I'm again mentioning part of one post being blown out of proportion...
But it's definitely happened again.

Talk about conflating things...

No one said G1 as a series is confined to one age group.
No one was comparing TF to other franchises.
No one was saying that without G1 or collectors of G1 that this franchise dissolves...

Holy hell, right as I've given people credit (in my own mind) for having their heads on, this sh!t splatters.

Some of these posts come off like people don't get enough time to actually interact with other adults.
That, or personal frustrations end up manifesting in posts about toys...
Either way...

After transforming the SS86 Ultra Magnus, I can say that I'm VERY impressed.

If it would be the "MP Magnus 2.0", I wouldn't be surprised. Everything feel solid and the bot is more posable than he should logically be.

My only complaint are his horns. Why are they separate pieces? They pop off all the time and that's really annoying. I know it's to prevent breakage, but still. They could have been made out of hard rubber and be glued onto his head.

Appart the horns thing, I say that Commander Magnus is worth the full price and may be the best Commander after Armada Optimus Prime.

My Ultra Magnus arrived today, I haven't tried transforming him yet, but he looks soooooo good on the shelf, I'm very happy to have him at last!

The one issue I have is that one of his guns is a bit bent, slightly annoying with how expensive this toy was, but I don't mind too much because I don't intend on selling him off any time soon:
