I don't have anyone specific in mind, just whoever has an eye for action and science-fiction, who knows how to make their movie connect with children and adults alike, and who actually gives a damn about Transformers enough to put effort into the movie. Of course that's not to say Michael Bay doesn't put effort into his movies (No director, writer or producer ever sets out to make a bad movie, it just kind of happens), but it is clear from interviews and such that his heart isn't really in it as much as it should be.
On an unrelated note, I've seen a lot of people online say stuff along the lines of "This director should direct Transformers because they made a movie I like!" without really considering whether or not their particular style would work for it. Such as:
Neil Blomkamp should direct Transformers because District 9 was good,
Christopher Nolan should direct Transformers because The Dark Knight and Inception were good,
James Gunn should direct Transformers because Guardians of the Galaxy was good,
Matt Reeves should direct Transformers because Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was good,
Alex Garland should direct Transformers because Ex Machina was good,
Zack Snyder should direct Transformers because 300 was good,
Josh Trank should direct Transformers because Chronicle was good (though I don't imagine many people would say that now, after Fantastic Four...)
I don't think any of the above names should direct a Transformers movie, because I don't think any of their styles (except mayyyyybe James Gunn) would necessarily fit with it. Personally speaking, my ideal Transformers movie shouldn't take itself too seriously, it should fully acknowledge how dumb the premise is and just have fun with it, so I don't think the likes of Christopher Nolan or Zack Snyder would gel well with that.
