Hey-o! My Classics Soundwave has been waiting eleven years for a Rumble and Frenzy! As for Laserbeak, I ended up with my uncle's broken Buzzsaw (missing a leg and guns), so maybe I can frankenstein up a perfect Buzzsaw finally. I don't know what I'd do with a second Ravage though, but I've solved harder problems.
That would make three sets of complete cassette teams for me (FOC and MP), and that's not counting my brother's TR Cassettes.

Since I have the Encore Soundblaster neither of those options would suit me. Maybe they will do a cassette in Rumble's Cartoon Colours

I pretty much have my fill of G1 Soundwave with the previous Commemorative reissue and some vintage cassettes. So I'll skip that one. However, I'm very glad that those who never had the chance to get G1 Soundwave and his team will be able to.
Now the only thing left to know is for how much this will sell for?
To be perfectly honest, I may buy that soundwave and the two pack of cassettes anyway...

The buzzsaw with Soundwave is probably stubby lasers too, would really like a new ratbat as mines seen better days on his chrome. Between not being able to remember what I have and the affordable not MP cassette packs I'm likely passing on these, though we will not see thme in stores over here anyhoos (and they are the kind of things that can easilly fall in your shopping basket and accidently be purchased)

That doesn't make it accurate. The toys came first, followed by the comic, and those are the same. And the cartoon had a lot of animation and color mistakes. Rumble and Frenzy being miscolored is one of them.Coptur wrote:the most iconic version without a shadow of doubt is the US cartoon version and he is BLUE

Slamdance and Squawkbox, Snapdragon and Apeface, Blue Bacchus, the double Targetmasters and perhaps even a nice Raiden boxset?
Fan who grew up with only the cartoon: Who are they? When did they appear?
P.S. Don't answer those questions, I'm well aware who they are, but the casual uninitiated fans may not.
Let's open this up in another way. Which fans of which cartoon? The "casual uninitiated fans" of 2019 wouldn't be looking to a begone 80's cartoon as their source of Transformers knowledge either. The Geewun fanbase is in their 30's to 40's now. If they have stuck with it this long, 'casual' or 'uninitiated' would no longer apply.
By the same token, The Japanese fanbase (which Takara holds high above us) They know exactly who those characters are, that appeared in the Takara Series and are probably patiently waiting for those reissues.
Removing the internet for the moment, if your only knowledge of Transformers is Sunbow, you tapped out in the late 80's.

I did not grow up with the g1 cartoon (I was born in 88). The Frenzy I know is from the toys I ended up collecting as well as the comics. I always thought he was blue and never encountered a contradiction from what I cared about. It took me a while to even realize why there was such debate.
Anyways, the debate is kind of useless here. These vintage reissues are meant to give us the original toys again. And since the original frenxy toy is blue, so is the reissue. It wouldnt have been anything else.

I had to look it up to understand what was being discussed. I got into Transformers through The Movie, but I was only 3, so I knew of no other platform such as the comics. Rumble and Frenzy appear prominently in two scenes and I can't even recall seeing them in Season 3. So nothing contradictory there either.

Nice, I'll keep an eye out for that one. We've previously discussed The Movie elsewhere before but even at 3 I didn't find it "too violent". I had no context for the prior series, so it was just robots being blown up. If anything I distinctly remember how cool a visual the smoke and flames coming out of Prowl's eyes and mouth were.
If only we would get that original, unreleased Unicron toy in this reissue line. I would have done anything to have that toy back in the day.

Kids have an amazing way of bringing things back for us. I've always enjoyed TF but only recently got into collecting and revisiting the series because I was able to show my 5 yr old son the G1 toons and movie. Brought back good memories and now I'm able to share it with my boy.

Didn't the rumor about the Encore set of Dino Cassettes also mention something about Frenzy in new colors? You might be on to something here! It's a great idea for sure.Seibertron wrote:You know what'd be really awesome? A cartoon accurate "Rumble" and "Frenzy" two pack, or at least a cartoon accurate Rumble with Ratbat or something. Blue Frenzy toy is not a truly accurate "Cartoon" Rumble or Takara cartoon Frenzy. He needs that purplish blue, etc. That would be awesome and funny.
Just to clarify, this would only be awesome if we ended up with the more desirable cassettes first, or if it were a convention exclusive like for SDCC or something. I wouldn't want a niche item to replace a better selling item.
Maybe 2019 is the year they realize G1 cassette reissues are a license to print money. More wacky colors please!

Re: Walmart G1 Transformers Toys Reissues Thread
Here goes another shot in the FIRRIB war ...
They are essentially both the same character. According to their tech specs, they're both little punks who are not very strong, but have pretty powerful special abilities that are disruptive to enemies.
So not only do we fans have to deal with the who is what color thing, once you figure it out, their personalities are so similar, it can be confusing again to keep them separate in your head.
To me, Rumble is the one that turns into a cassette from a robot, while Frenzy is the one that turns into a robot from a cassette.

The stunted guns on Laserbeak are actually a selling point for me here. Its much more cartoon accurate and is enough of a variation that I'll be popping him into my collection.

Yah and there's nothing contradictory with animation errors in the animated Transformers Movie either, just to make our brains hurt even more!

Not to mention that the longer lasers are very prone to breakage as well, so I kind of welcome this change. I have dozens of broken Laserbeak and Buzzsaw accessories in the parts bin for the Seibertron.com Store!
