Any difference between Takara and Hasbro's movie line?

Postby Excellion » Sat Jul 07, 2007 2:16 pm

Hello all! Just a quick query to help me decide how best to spend this week's pay packet. I've seen Movie Leader Optimus Ptrime in my local toy shop but before I go and spend £40 on him I would like some more information on the Takara version of the same toy. In my experience Takara products have always been superior and I usually import. Does anyone know if there paint applications are better or the same? I find Hasbro red always looks orange (ALternators Prime is a good example of this).

Any help would be appreciated!

The only difference I've seen so far lies in '79 Bumblebee: the Takara version has translucent windows instead of the solid ones of the Hasbro version. Here's a gallery of the Japanese version, courtesy of Remy of TFKenkon

I have the Hasbro version, and there is NOWHERE that diecast could be successfuly used, so that must have been utter bull.

I dunno why, but I getthe feeling the movie isnt as big a deal to Takara as ti is to Hasbro.
Im also a little appauled that the Japanese are getting the western tf names thrust upon them. We wouldnt like it if we had to watc ha movie with Convoy and the cybertrons battleing for seibertron against the destrons, so why should they have to have Prime and the autobots battling for cybertron against the decepticons?

We really don't care what they're called. The movie is different from the cartoon.

Appalled?? This is an Amercian movie. This is about as appalling as a Japanese movie having the Japanese names, i.e. not at all. Not to mention that any collector there is probably more than a little familiar with the name Optimus Prime. Really, a non issue to me.

I think maybe Takara uses a slightly different paint job. But I rather get Hasbro than Takara, both different versions.
