I'm sure you may have heard about 3D Realms closing down, it means that everyone's favorite piece of Vaporware, Duke Nukem Forever, is now officially dead.

I'm sure many remember it's 12 years of development. Many lost hope years ago, but 3D Realms would still give us some little tidbit to make sure we hadn't forgotten, or to prove they weren't just playing WoW.

But now, with 3D Realm's closure, comes the final end to our favorite steroid-pumpin', alien-killin', one-liner-shoutin' action hero. Of Duke Nukem I can only say this: Of all the souls I have encountered in my travels...his was the most...human.

I read about that a few days ago. I've never played a Duke Nukem game. What was the big thing about them, were they "edgy" at the time? I remember reading/hearing about giving strippers money, that seems kinda edgy(for the time).

I also read some guy kept his Pre-order reciept for 10 years. That guy should get a disc of the unfinished game or something.

It's hard to explain...imagine Doom, but starring the stereotypical action hero; big guns, hot babes, and above all, enough cheesy one-liners to make a whole script out of just that. I have suggested a Duke Nukem movie could simply be action sequences and one-liners.

Didn't I read somewhere that the last CEO stated that the development of Duke Nukem Forever was nothing more then a PR gag and they never really worked on it?

I remember the controversies of duke nukem. Parents including mine hated the game. Which made me love it more.

I remember when he would kill a bunch of **** with an explosion he would yell bitching.

Or the unlockable bonus level where ucoud shake down strippers and he would say shake it baby

No, and if you did it wasn't true. And if it was true, they spent 12 years on a PR stunt and ended up losing everything.

But no, they've released screenshots, trailers, even, as I've heard, gameplay footage (The second link I posted is supposed to contain some). After the announcement that 3D realms was going under, several former employees made blogs, showing off renders and concept art.

Some of my family liked Duke Nukem. My dad wouldn't let me play after I found out what you could do with a stripper and the spacebar...

Another company will buy the rights to make Duke games. It happens all the time.
