And as for deluxe-scale Hercules...eh. Part of the appeal of the standard Hercules set is that he's absolutely huge, and the whole point of this set is to make a decently poseable Devastator in Legends scale (and also as an experiment in downsizing). If the figures were deluxe size, he'd be...eh. Too big to go with Legends and the like, but without one of his main selling points (being a veritable Goliath). It would just be pointless.

Well as a buyer of both Hercules and Giant, I can tell you it was the more G1 (cartoon) aesthetic that drew me towards Hercules, not the increased size. I didn’t want a green Giant because I absolutely hate the individual “neo” robot modes. But a really good deal from TF Source sold me on yellow Giant for my G2 shelf. I love Giant’s scale so much better even though Hercules is aesthetically superior in my opinion. So a Hercules done in Giant scale would be an automatic buy for me. While Metroplex is awesome and worthy of having a small team of legends figures to stand under his feet, I don’t feel the need to revolve my entire collection around him. Honestly, I can’t even remember an episode of the G1 cartoon in which both the Constructicons and Metroplex were both in, let alone in the same clip.

Personally, if they were Deluxe I'd continue to not be interested. The fact that they are apparently closer to Scout or even Legends is what has piqued my interest. Quite likely I still shan't bite on a Hercules, but the chances of it happening are less slim then they once may have been.

(Of course, while a lot less fancy, I already have a tiny Devastator!)

I find it odd that people are calling Giant "neo". From what I've seen, he's a lot more G1 styled than Hercules, especially in the individual vehicles and the combined form. His colours are very G1 too- in fact they're one of the reasons I prefer Hercules (his saturated, vibrant green is infinitely nicer to me than Giant/G1 Devastator's washed out, puke green).

My ideal Devastator combo would be Hercules, the mini-Herc shown here to go with my "supersize scale" figures (Tidal Wave, ROTF Demolishor and any citybots I may acquire) and a release of Giant in his original yellow colours, but with the updated engineering of the green version. (I'd probably headcanon Yellow Giant as an Autobot combiner team, a bit like the Build Team from RID. Reprolabels ho!)

Think Giant looks more like 1985 Devastator and the Constructicons in all modes, designs and colors.

Indeed. I think the "neo" comments come from the individual bot mode looks.

Indeed, this has always been my thinking, as well. There were two reasons I was attracted to Giant over Hercules, and one of them was that he looked a lot more like the Constructicons as I remembered them.

(The other reason, of course, was that the difference in price didn't hurt!)
