I have ordered way too much stuff from Play.com over last few years and on a few occasions (mostly things from the gadgets section) they didn't have things on the release date.
Works the other way too, i have recieved some things almost a month before the release date. Which is a little odd.

And their email shipping notification is really hit and miss. It's better to check your account now and again to see if the status has changed to 'shipped'.
