Favorite Collectible Series of Transformers?
- Motto: ""Clarity of thought before rashness of action.""

Just wondering what everyone's favorite group of figures is for Transformers, from G1 to Dark of the Moon, from Masterpiece to Prime! There's a bunch to choose out of, say what you want and no need for a particular order!
My Favorites are:
1)- Transformers Prime (First Edition/Robots in Disguise)
2)- ROTF Series
3)-Takara Tomy Masterpieces
4)- Transformers Cybertron
State yours!!!

1. Transformers Prime (First Edition, Robots in Disguise, Arms Micron, Beast Hunters)
Not every figure is the best. But I really like the show. I collect all the in-show characters and then I pick out which ones I like that are toys only.
2. Classics (Classics, Generations, Universe 2.0, Reveal the Shield)
They're fully articulated, new molds of our favorite G1 characters. Do I really need to go into depth about this?
3. G1
I don't always aim for these guys. But when I'm in a collector's depression with nothing to buy, I usually turn to the original line from the 80s to fill up my collection.
Those are the only three lines I collect today.

1. Classics - grew up with G1 and love this updated (modern) line
2. Masterpiece - what can I say, these are just wonderful
3. Beast Era (mostly BW/BM) - basically anything with a beast mode from the mid 90's until 01/02
4. Anything that catches my eye - I know that's not a 'Series', but sometimes I'll grab one or two toys from a line.
Edit: forgot to add whatever tv series is running at the time. It should be third with the others moved down one
Prime disappointed me so much that I forgot about this one

1) CHUG (of course)
2) Prime
-- The show is really great, and while the line has some...questionable molds, they're mostly pretty good, and some of them are spectacular!
3) Armada/Energon/Cybertron (Mostly minicons from Armada, the bulk of bulks
from Energon and Cybertron)
-- I have a big of nostalgia for Armada, but the toys don't hold much interest. I do however love minicons! The Energon line's combination gimmicks are and easy draw; the only thing better than a giant transforming robot is a giant transforming robot that combiiiines~. Cybertron just has some spectacular molds, like Downshift (Wheeljack homage wrapped up in a muscle car
), Metroplex, and of course Optimus, who I NEED to own at some point.
4) Beast Wars/Machines
-- So so many great molds I can't even begin. But it's the Beast era, and it's all great stuff.
5) Movie lines (I just need Commander Hatchet for Dotm CV Decepticons dammit D:)
-- Despite all the hate they get, there are always a few gems in each line. 07 Dropkick is just a gem, all giant Decepticon symbol and gerwalk truck mode!

1) Prime. Just about anything Prime with the exception of Hot Shot, but I'm sure if I see him at T.J. Max or Marshall's I'll get him.
2) Classics and Generations.
3) Animated. I love the look of these figures.
4) Movieverse. Mainly DOTM, some ROTF. None of the '07 film figs.
5) G1. Only the characters I love the most if I can find them at a somewhat decent price considering that they're vintage.

I'd say that G1 is my staple line, whenever there's a lull in Transformers to buy, I'll shop around for any missing pieces. I don't do that with the other lines.
Prime would come in second, Masterpiece followed by FoC. Then probably Animated and the movies. Ive got a few characters from across the Transformers timeline, but not enough of them from each of the previous incarnations I feel to warrant making the list

Right now I really love my TFP collection but that could be because I got Breakdown and Dreadwing for Christmas.
I still really love my Alternity although I stopped at one of each mold.
Masterpiece is also extremely cool.

I must be an oddball here, I just know it.
1) Beast Wars II and Beast Wars Neo
Yes, I'm a Beastie, I admit it! But I'm also a Japan-fan. I also like how Takara used the non-show BW molds and, at the time unreleased there, G2 and MW molds into an interesting line. Very impressive.
2) Classics
This is a no-brainer, and nothing to really say about it, so... Possibly the only "normal" pick out of the bunch.
3) Unicron Trilogy
More for sentimental reasons, really. I really started collecting when Armada was in stores, Energon had hit upon my first real 3 month vacation to the States (after dropping out of Uni) and Cybertron just had perfect designs... mostly.
Honorable mentions go to the Power Core Combiners and the Arms Micron series.

1. Beast Wars (I think I have them all now, with the exception of a few Botcon exclusives from the 3H days)
2. Beast Wars II/Beast Wars NEO (I have all of them except for the G2 repaints which weren't beast formers at all which I have no interest in and the same goes for Lucky Draws)
3. Masterpiece (Takara mostly, though I'm pretty selective about which ones I buy)
4. United/Generations etc. (I'm selective about these as well, I don't try to get every figure in the lines, only those which interest me just like the MP's)
5. WfC/FoC (assuming we don't count those as United/Generations)
6. TF:Prime (including FE and Beast Hunters, though my overall interest in Prime is fading more and more, especially now that Generations is making a comeback)
I have quite a few G1 figures, but I'm extremely selective and have no interest in having the entire cast or catalog (but kudos to those who have been able to amass a full G1 cast or the entire line(s) as it's darn near impossible these days).

1. Generations
I had lapsed away from buying Transformers toys for several years, and War for Cybertron reignited my passion for the franchise like wildfire. Seeing Megatron, Optimus, and Soundwave in stores, I knew I had to have them and play again. This year's influx of figures with the same aesthetic and the campaign of the even more stellar Fall of Cybertron led me to collect more and more. The inclusion of other favorites like Thundercracker and Thunderwing, as well as awesome quality molds like Warpath and Blurr and Scourge, leads to monetary windfalls.
2. Prime (FE/PRID/AM)
Like many of my forum colleagues, I share the view Prime is the best Transformers cartoon since Beast Wars, and the varied toyline has a lot of quality figures. It also has a lot of redecos and retools, but with the exceptions of Hot Shot, PRiD Arcee and a few PRiD Voyagers, they're all figures I like and a nice, complete and contained line. Plus, I'm still in awe of the feats of engineering that are Soundwave and PRiD Vehicon.
3. Beast Wars
This one is a bit of a nostalgic choice, as Beast Wars was the first Transformers series I really got into. I still have a full set of Season 3 show Predacons, plus a Transmetal 2 Cheetor for them to torture. Fuzors and mutants and Transmetals gave this line tremendous variety, and the figures still hold up surprisingly well today.
4. Energon
The show was terrible, but the toyline was great. My personal favorite Starscream mold, an awesome (and awesomely hideous) Scorponok, and a Shockwave homage who just happens to be a murderous asshole. Throw in the scout-sized Terrorcons for a little army building, and it's a great line for those who wear the only badge Cybertronians can be proud of
5. Timelines
Again, this line has great variety, with things like Shattered Glass and Wings of Honor plus clever reinventions of old molds. Were it not so gosh-darn expensive, it'd have listed higher.

1. Movieverse: ROTF Devy got me back to collecting!
2. Prime/AM: I have every single AM so far, love this line but have to say too many repaints/remolds
3. Animated: Gone almost crazy collecting when takara made them, really show accurate!
4. FOC/WFC: I saw Kickback's concept art and the toy is a real representation of it. Fairly accurate, though some not so much like Grimlock's tail..

Classics and all other related (or I should say neo G1)
ROTF (but when I sell TFs, they are usually my first target)
WFC (my highest ratio of completion in a line, 3 out of 4
)
TF:Prime FE and RiD, no AM

Word.....
Except I do have animated Blurr and Arcee. And I have Megatron from Beast Wars. But the rest, well they were an easy pass for me too.
I love my G1....represent.
Classics and those affiliated with it give me a G1 feel with more articulation.
Armada got me back into the Transformers.

My favorite lines to collect are as follows.
G1- After many years I'm nearing completion of my US G1 collection all the way up to G2. I'm mainly missing some harder to find action masters, pretenders and micromasters playsets. I doubt 2013 will be the year I complete it but I'm hoping I go close.
Nemesis Prime / black Optimus repaints- This is a sub line that I only started collecting 3 years ago, but I'm totally addicted to. Just need to put some coin aside for that Takara Jetwing/ night ops prime.
Masterpiece- Loving the new scaled direction that its heading and hoping for a couple more reveals this year.

Hehe, well you're definitely correct on that point. G1 is what started it all and every other line is a spin off/derivative of it, even all the countless reboots and reimaginings have their roots in the source material no matter how 'different' from the source material they may be.
Of course, your reasoning is precisely why I fell so hard for Beast Wars. Once the writers on that show connected it to G1's fiction, I geeked out so hard that Beast Wars became my favorite iteration of Transformers ever.

I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I am that which is, which was, and is yet to come.

Hm. The easiest way for me to figure this out is to look at recent purchases.
For a while the movieverse was my primary focus, then Generations popped up (never got into Classics, apart from Grimlock) with Reveal the Shield and Hunt for the Decepticons, which, conveniently, also had movie-styled characters.
But I think that my true passion ultimately lies with a couple of lines.
Power Core Combiners: Seriously, these guys are amazing. Yes, they're flawed, some of them ridiculously loose or limp (Double Clutch, I'm looking at you), which is why I focused on Decepticons only - with the exception of the Dinobots and Heavytread, and I repurposed the latter with a Con sticker and red eyes.
But they have three modes! And minicons! And they're Scout sized! And oh the homages! (And let's not forget MakeToys Mobine Series Paladin/Chaos. PCC taken to the extreme!)
I'm currently debating whether I should re-buy Skyhammer and Steamhammer. Owned them once, when I wasn't that taken from the line, but they're the only too I'm missing at the moment. Priority goes to Skyhammer, though.
Animated: Speaking of homages. Although I think I'm done with these, as I now have a complete Elite Guard (without Prowl, OP and BB, as they never really joined in the series) and the Decepticons I wanted. Plus the Dinobots. Of course.
Prime/Beast Hunters: Love FE Optimus, truly adore him. Still hunting for Steve the Vehicon and hoping for Leader Predaking and more Star Seekers. But I think this is my current focus, and hopefully the only one for the next year or so. Really need to start saving money now.
So yeah, while PCC is fun and adorable, Animated is gorgeous and Prime is possibly the best multimedia series in recent years, with amazing engineering and really nice aesthetics. Here's hoping for more interesting releases in the Beast Hunters line!
Sorry geewunners. I'm a sucker for the new stuff.

I dont really have a favorite line or era because I began collecting only recently. So I just take EVERYTHING. I really like everything. I dont have much Beast Wars because I'm a little TRUK NO MUNKEY kind of guy. I dont like all that shellforming.
Still, I DO have my favorite era:
1) MOVIE TRILOGY
I Love all the movie lines. It's Michael Bay that brought me back to Transformers and I thank him for that. Even if the movie toys are under represented in my living room, they are still the ones I have the most. They are technological marvels, are a challenge to transform, and are a sight to behold in all modes.
2) UNICRON TRILOGY
I love how they are very old and new at the same time. Armada is a brick, Energon is a strange hybrid, and Cybertron is just awesome. There's gimmicks everywhere and we see lots of trial and errors in these lines. Truely a very fun era.
3) GOBOTS
No, not G1 Transformers. Gobots. The old rival. There's something charming about them and the perfect vehicle modes dont hurt. Also, this is a vintage line that is AFFORDABLE.
4) ALL THE REST.
Classics, Generations, Alternators, Masterpeice, G1, ect... I love them all so much!
That's how I see my faves.
EDIT: This was my post #1234!
