How to keep your Jetfire Bone-White?

Postby Kingplay » Thu Jul 12, 2007 1:18 pm

I just purchased a bone-white Jetfire. I am wondering what causes it to yellow? Is it sunlight or exposure to moisture? or both? I want to keep it on my table as a model, but I am afraid of it becoming yellow.

Thanks in advance to those who post answers :)

Motto: "Everything I do is divinely sanctioned."
Weapon: Jawbreaker Cannon
Keep it away from sunlight, smoke, and your grubby little hands.

All those things, UV light, nicotine, and skin oil, over time, cause yellowing to occur.

Does this includes soap? Or sweat?

Unfortunately, the problem is bigger than that. Plastic is a man made creation. It is created by mixing different chemicals together. Unfortunately, when plastic breaks down, sometimes it yellows. The above mentioned ways speed up the process. However, given enough time, all plastic will become yellow and brittle and eventualy break and fall apart. That is the nature of the beast.

Heh, you don't want it bone white, you want it bleech white. Bone is not quite pure white. :)

Wear gloves. I never did, and my Jetfire (original) is still like new. White plastic will inevitibly turn piss yellow. Look at older computers...ewww.

Keep your white figures in a room that is without direct sunlight, and away from heat and direct light. It ain't easy being a white figure in a colorful plastic world.
