I love the translation from Cartoon to plastic realizations they have produced.. Kudos to the engineers at Hasbro.. would it not be hard to then convert a comic design to that kind of toony plastic toy format, even with blocky proportions? You know and sell them in toy specialty shops like DC Direct or Marvel Select does?? that would be soo cool.. I would love a toy rendition of Guido Guidi art..

Well it's been done with the War Within designs in Titanium and that line has ended up cancelled due to poor sales and a lack of popularity with retailers. I'm not saying that we'll never see toy designs based off comic book designs again but with the way Titaniums seem to have gone Hasbro may be a little cagey about the idea in the future.

I think people had more issues with the faulty limbs and joints of the Titanium line. It was nice to have figures made out of (or at least partially made out of) metal once again, but it's no good if the plastic parts cannot support the metal parts.

That and their paint just fell off for no real reason.

I would have bought about 6 of the Titanium figures, if they had have actually gotten a release in stores across Australia, Only every other wave made some kind of appearance, we only had WWi Prime, GiJoe Megatron, WWi Starscream, and RID Prime available on TRU shelves.

I must agree. I don't think the poor sales had as much to do with the designs as the poor construction on some of them.

And I'm not arguing the point on that and I'm not saying that it's my personal belief that the inclusion of WW designs was a reason for the line faultering just in case anyone was reading that into my previous comments. It just occurs to me that in analysing the line's poor performance Hasbro may well have taken the inclusion of comic designs into consideration as a reason for scrapping the line. The main reason? I don't think so but it may have been a factor.

I find it ironic that after years of complaint about lack of die-cast in the newer toys and the outcry from the fanbase wanting toys based off WW designs after the book first appeared that it was a combination of the two factors that limited the actual toys when we did get them. How much more popular would many of the Titanium moulds have been if they'd been all plastic and not had the stability issues that seem to have put a lot of people off?

Just for the record I'm a fan of the Titaniums, some lovely designs in that line. That said I don't have as many as I might because they are very rarely at the top of my priority list for things that I need to pay large amounts of shipping to import and the UK only saw them get any level of retail exposure from Rodimus and Soundwave onwards.

Well, I do agree that Titaniums tooka nice stab at the comic world.. I even bought a few Titaniums too...sadly they were very flimsy, had a hard time staying together and fell apart frequently...If only they had released the characters without diecast, in a bouble packaging with a comic similar to the Marvel Legends series.. Now that would have been cool..since they were deluxee sizes most of them..

My one dream would have been to see this guy get made...

that would have been nice...

I was totallyt about the designs of the War Within figures, it was the materials that drove me to boycott purchasing them...I think had they changed their marketing , made those figures out of pure plastic, and bubble packaged them with a sealed bagged comic from that particular series, it would have killed in the toy isles..

Not for "no reason." Paint doesn't absorb into the metal like it can plastic. Paint scratchs off of any surface but metal especially. Anyone who owns a Binaltech can back me up.

I think it took Hasbro awhile to get the 6" Titaniums down. Wave 1 and 2 had a few problems, but they did work the kinks out of things. It was very nice to see some of these figures released in the Titanium line. I think part of the reason why none of the other comics will get the toys is because there is no real market for them. Or rather depending on some of the series, who knows. I would buy them and I know a bunch of us would, but how would it translate in the market. Unfortunetly we fans are not the greatest market selling point to Hasbro.

But If I could pick a toy line to be made from comic design, it would have to be a G.I. Joe crossover series. And they might actually get that to sell, SWTF actually did pretty well (thanks to the Star Wars fans mostly).
