Just saw an advance showing
Im stationed in ND and we just saw the movie and it was great. the special effects are sweet. The only drawback is the changing of the autobots from the original makes of cars. You can tell detroit paid the production company off. Why would they change the makes of the cars. Jazz has always been my favorite autobot and he went from a prosche to a solstice (give me a brake) and since when did bumblee bee become a camero.

Several reasons:
Different Cars:
GM basically gave away the cars. About US$3,000,000 worth of vehicles.
If you're making a big action flick, and you have a relatively small budget to work with (Compared to, say, Pirates 3), and a car comapny offers you THAT MUCH in machinery, you take it.
Bumblebee's a Camaro:
Two reasons for this:
1. Bay didn't want Bumblebee to be associated with herbie the Love Bug. Which, really, who wants that?
2. VW didn't want their cars associated with war, because they didn't want anyone to remember that make planes and cars for the Nazis in the '30s and '40s. (That would probably lose them some business.)
Different Prime:
They decided that using a Cab-Over-Engine styled truck would make Prime only about 26 feet tall. Thus, they went with the Peterbilt, the largest truck availible. This put Prime at around 32 feet.

I agree with you on the love bug thing. But come on 150 million is not low budget. I just think that it is a way for domestic car makers to try and save their companies. No one wants american cars. All the cars looked great, im just a little disapointed with the change.

I won't argue with you, Jazz as a 911 Turbo would have been really sweet. But honestly I can handle Bumble Bee as a hot Camaro and Prime as a Peterbuilt. Those changes IMO are pretty cool. Jazz as a Solstice doesn't get me all excited, but I'll take him.

I only drive American cars and I'm a huge GM fan. I loved that all the Autobots were GM cars. They did pay homeage to G1 if you remember when they drove through the Prosche dealership and saw one that looked like G1 Jazz and that Bumblebee was parked by an old VW bug at the used car lot (and it was yellow), at least they did that if they weren't really those type of cars in the movie.
Long live the Decepticons!! I love G1 Starscream!!
Don't tell Starscream, but I'm in love with movieverse Ironhide!
Current TF count: 255 (and growing)

150mill is a VERY LOW budget for this type of film, like the above poster said (and bay has been saying in interviews), they basically GAVE THEM 3million worth of cars, so thats 3mill cut off the budget right there.
Its pretty much a consensus (misspell?

3. VW G1 Bumblebee is cute and cuddly and the kid of the group.
Movie Bumblebee ain't cute and cuddly and could whoop nearly anything that gets in his way.
