aw for the love of Primus. This is exactly why I've pretty much given up watching movies or tv anymore. It's all just rehashed crap.
With the exception of the TF movie, which had at least 20-25 amazing minutes in it.
I see,.........more books in my future!!

There's a thread called KITT over in the kitbash with a whole bunch of useless KR trivia if anyone is interested.
As for this, I will have to wait and see before I form a proper opinion. The New BSG has been the best series in recent times (I dont know if it's these guys, but it's proof not all remakes are crap). But this shapeshifting comment has me worried. They had better not have KITT doing really stupid looking stunts with CG. My view is: If you can't do it with a real car, or models, then you shouldn't be able to do it on screen. Unless it's something like dropping it off a 100ft ledge. But the original KITT jumped off a car park roof and into a 4th floor apartment in one episode, so maybe dropping it off would be okay.
And KITT had still better have his personality intact. Try to get Bill Daniels to play the voice, if not him, someone with the same kind of voice. KITT deserves at least that.
As for the car, I don't mind as long as it's black and doesnt look stupid. I'm looking at you here KR2000. And it has to have the woosh bar. In fact, get Glen A. Larson to help with the show. He was involved with the new BSG, so he's still active.
Anyone who's interested, there's a new channel (Virgin 1) starting on Freeview on Monday that will be showing the original KnightRider. WOOT!
As for that A Team movie, that was in the paper back in 2004. And nothing has come to pass on it.

WOW to everyone bitching about remakes that "slap" the originals in the face.
Remakes aren't intended to be the exact same thing as their predecessor.
They are meant to be different.
And I think some of these remakes are pretty original honestly.
Taking a concept and seeing what you can do differently and better then someone else is always a challenge.
Get over yourselves really, Knight Rider was pure cheesyness.
A remake could take that awesome concept and give it a real sense of coolness

There was that Knight Rider team show with the mortorcyle. The Knight Rider future show with the rusted out homemade car with KITT being the guys girlfriend stuck in a crystal or something like that. I remember they had a kick ass monster truck in that one two.
I don't know if I'm missing any, but basicly Knight Rider was cool in it's own right. I realy hope if they do this that they learn from the mistakes in these previous attempts, or else, this will be an easy strick 3 for this franchise.
I don't know about "failed", but they did 2 movies - Knight Rider 2000 and Knight Rider 2010 - the one you mentioned. Then Team Knight Rider with 3 cars and 2 motorcycles. The 2010 title had the least to do with the original series. The 2000 series was set in a near future California which has now come and gone and didn't happen. TKR was okay, they made each car less powerful because they didn't want them all to be unstopable.
I just hate seeing remakes. How about a GOOD sequal, where it says "yes, there was a guy named Michael Knight in the 1980s, and this is the same Foundation, and we have a new agent, here is his new car."

If they are going to do transforming cars, I'd rather see MASK--live action.
I think it could survive quite well as a SCI FI show, with the right writers and actors.

Haha, yeah I thought Viper when they said that. I dunno... shape shifting isn't what this show was about.

The team knight rider show was set in the same universe as the original show, they mention Devon Miles and the foundation as being its predecessor and Micheal Knight is vaguely mentioned.

Special f/x in tv shows is all good to me. BSG, Heroes, Lost... these are all shows that hold my attention, though not due to the f/x, but the writing.
However... I'd like to see more "original" ideas. If they want to do a show about a shape shifting car, does it "have" to be called Knight Rider? Is that the only way to get an idea off of paper and into reality by piggypacking it onto an older, established idea?
*sigh*

I'm all for the shapeshifting. Actually, if it's influenced by Transformers, and it has 'shapeshifting', talking cars...does anyone else see where I'm going with this? Who am I kidding? Though I'd kill for a live action Transformers show.

Meh, they've been talking about reviving Knight Rider for ages. It's like Indiana Jones 4: I'll believe it's happening when the cameras actually start rolling. Even though the latter has actually come to pass now, that doesn't change my attitude toward Development Hell.
Besides, even if they do actually get it done, Knight Rider was cheesy enough in its original version that remaking it could fall either way, really. The series had some great elements - the two-part pilot/origin "Knight Of The Phoenix", an absolute necessity to adapt for a new version, IMO - and a lot of excruciatingly silly ones - like the fact that both Michael AND KITT have EVIL TWINS. Please.
I can say, however, that I'm not keen on the idea of a shape-shifting KITT, since VIPER already took care of that, kind of. Were it my call, a new Knight Rider would have reimagined the original story into something a lot darker and more mysterious - more in line with the narration in the original show's opening credits: "Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist. Michael Knight, a young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent, the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law."

Hmm, might be interesting. I was 1 when Knight Rider ended, so it holds no nastalgic appeal to me. Caught a couple episodes on TVLAND or something before, seemed kinda interesting.
Viper does hold nastalgic appeal to me, but I barely remember the show. All I know is that I used to watch it. I do remember Viper fighting the prototype Viper one episode though. I wiki'd it, and I had no idea it had four seasons!

I say they make a series based on the idea in the Simpsons. Knight Boat, The Crime Solving Boat.
Michael: Oh, no! They're headed for land! We'll never catch them now!
Knight Boat: Incorrect. Look, a canal.

I wonder if it was really Transformers that inspired a new KR series or the remake of Herbie...
At any rate i guess it would be cool a cross-over between KR and TF. Example:
They get all this cool technology from Megatron while he's an ice cube, then from that Knight's Industries gets a government contract to build a computerized car (KARR) built from TF technology. Incidentally the decepticons get hold of KARR and turn it evil so Kight Industried got to build a new one (KITT). At that point the autobots show up and grab KITT too and then Devon Miles says "Ahh screw it! Bonnie, it that job with the FBI still available?" "Yeah, you mean the one about UFO investigations?" "Yeah... that. Call them up now, and tell Wilton i'm outta here.".

Nbc are bringing back the old Knight Rider show to television. I guess it's going to be shown on Nbc. It's no remake. It's the original one from 1982.

...Knight Rider, back on the air? O_o...well that came out of left field...where it should've stayed.
I don't think a rebirth is a great idea, by any means.
