I went to the one in Lewis Center to pick up a few things, and decided to see if they might have gotten any MP Starscreams in. When I could not find any I asked someone in the toy department if they could check and see if they had any in stock. She checked and told me that item had been flagged, and they would not be getting any in until they had sold their current stock of MP Prime. They’ve had the same 15 Primes since he came out in the Classics box, and he’s been $69.97 the entire time. Has anyone else encountered this, or were they just giving me the runaround?

You didn't talk to the right person. I know one of the guys that stocks the toys (skinny black guy - I hope I didn't offend anyone)... Don't worry... It will be there... however... only 18 of them. I printed out a picture of it for him so he knows what to look for. Hopefully it comes during his shift.
But it IS true.. not all walmarts are going to get it. The Delaware Walmart near you is one of them that is NOT going to get them.

So true.
I called my local Super WalMart. A guy in the toy dept. says that they do not have them but a store across town has 5 in stock. So I go to that store across town and see no sign of them. Armed with the UPC, I ask a person with a handheld scanner to check into it. After 3 or 4 minutes of watching them try to punch in numbers, she says that the UPC is invalid. I kindly asked her why, then, does it say Tra Starscream on the top of her screen when she puts in the UPC. She says "oh, well we don't have it. Another store (on the same road, just much fartehr away) has it" and she said the person I talked to on the phone must have told me the right street but the wrong store.
So I go to the other store. Guess what? You got it - no Starscream. I went through the same ordeal with another employee at this store (UPC not valid, I point to where it says Starscream on his screen). All this time he looks as if he has never used this device before. He finally handled the situation by letting another person interupt looking for a certain color of spray paint and went off to help her, leaving me standing there wondering why I had allowed myself to be duped into wasting time.
So I called Wal-Mart again, asking them to verify stock. After repeating the UPC to the lady on the phone 5 times she asked me if I was looking for umbrellas (yes, after 5 repeats she still got it wrong). She finally put someone else on the phone and he told me that they could not tell stock on Starscream because they were a clearance items and clearance items don't show up in their inventory access. I tried to explain these were new, but I don't think he understood me. At least he got the UPC right.

As for the topic, it's possible certain stores won't be getting him, may just depend on the toy manager. Ours said he will no longer order Transformers for our store. Ours just don't move, Spiderman toys and GI Joe toys have started to fill in our transformers section. And Hot wheels continue to sell well. In our market however, TF's don't. Lots of people say the computer does the ordering, but there's still human intervention, and he can make sure we don't get what he doesn't need. So possible. We haven't ever had any.

MentalDragon found one for $50 near me, but, when they restocked them a week later, they went back up to full price.

It's probably not my place to play the ethics card, and I don't want to start a war, but that's straight shady. That's no better than tearing it out of the package while you are in the store.
