I may hate this toy but there are some questions that I want to ask about this weak looking toy. Yes a weak figure for leader type toy.

1.Who was the person who design this toy?
2.Why is he shorter than Galvatron?
3.Why Hasbro made him the Autobot Leader when his toy looks so ugly? Ultra Magnus should been the Autobot leader because his Toy is many times better.
4.Why does Rodimus's toy had an ugly face.
5.What was the original price?

To me his one of the worst leader TF toys for being maybe overprice

To me his one of the worst leader TF toys for being maybe overprice

1. An some dude who thought that articulation was overrated.
2. Because Hasblo has not discovered the meaning if "scale"
3. Nah, they both suck in their own ways. Rodimus was a stick that can just fall over. UM was a brick on wheels. Both could have been great, but were done a great injustice in their toy forms.
4. Bad sculpt, and it seemed like Hasbro was getting a little cheap in those years, IMHO.
5. Price? At least $18.99. Galvatron was $29.99 USD

Well, back when those figures came out, it was sort of a different ballgame. Still, Roddy was a pretty weak figure. Not to mention I'm not sure why they decided to give him a face that makes him look like Alpha Trion's contemporary.

The Titanium version makes up for this in spades, though.

^As does Classics Rodimus. Nice figure. I like to use my Excellion as Rodimus Prime though. Now THAT is a nice figure.

well, I for one always seem to be in a minority, but G1 Rodimus was one of my favourite toys when I was a kid.. he still is actually. I know he doesn't have any articulation(hell, vintage star wars figures have more), but I always liked how close he was to the cartoon, considering how many G1 figures back then weren't even close to what they looked like in the cartoon. I seem to recall seeing something about the size difference between him and Galvatron... I can't remember exactly what it was though.

I dont think that when the figureor Rodimus Prime was designed the intent was to make him autobot leader!I think Hasbro/Takara thought that it would be Ultra Magnus that would be the new leader so they designed Galvatron to match Ultra Magnus in scale.The mold for Ultra Magnus pre-existed as Powered Convoy.I beleave that it was Marvel/Sunbo that had the bright idea to make Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime the new leader.This might also explaine why it not on the teck-spec's of Rodimus Prime that he is autobot leader or that he was once Hot Rod!!!
