Quintesson Missions?
- Weapon: Corrosive Slime Shooter
Dread is sad. Dread has only been able to join on mission, and then didn't see any for three waves of TFs. When finally seeing one this morning, it filled up before Dread could enter. Dread is sad. ... You bloody punks better win that sob too!

Mission #Retrieved Intel...138442We have gone through a Quintesson mainframe. Their starfleet consists of exactly 128 cruisers, 1200 fighter groups and over 50,000 Sharkticons.....WE ARE IN TROUBLE.138692We discovered that Allicons have several tactics we have never seen. I hope I never meet up with one.1386961) We've found some information suggesting that THE FALLEN has returned.2) These Sharkticons are heavily armed. If these armies get to Cybertron and invade, I don't think we can stop them.138732The Quintessons have no interest in the Transformers. They appear to only want Cybertron itself, but why?138829We have severely underestimated the power of the Quintesson Judges. They appear to have technologies which make them nearly invincible.138901One of the Sharkticon commanders kept muttering how his masters are our creators. I remember hearing legends of that but certainly it isn't true....is it?139292The Quintessons have developed energy weapons that can possess Transformers and control them remotely. The Judges are now armed with them.
+Fixed grammatical error. (from possessive to plural)
+Fixed spelling error in actual intel text. (from 'creaters' to 'creators')
I did not include mission 139070 because no actual intel was retrieved even though it was a TF victory. Should I inlude it anyway?
By the way, OS, the text for #138696 appears as (emphasis my own), "The Transformers have won.
We've found some information suggesting that THE FALLEN has returned. The Transformers have won.
These Sharkticons are heavily armed. If these armies get to Cybertron and invade, I don't think we can stop them." Did you intend for these to be two separate intel pieces?

Damn those missions are a bugger to find. I haven't seen one in over four hours, and it turns out that it's just because they fill up before I can even see them...

It'll be like the armour missions. Remember when they first came about everyone jumped in to join them and they filled immediately too. Eventually they became like any other mission.

I've only managed to get into one of these so far and it was a miracle it happened. I entered my character when the mission was empty and, in the time it took the page to refresh and for me to click the 'view mission' link in his profile, the mission was already full.
I can't see that happening with these, TBH. The armor missions had a lot less competition for player spots for one thing. They were faction-specific, so one only had to compete with their own side for mission space, and the level range was narrower. In each of these missions, there are only six spots available total, so one has to compete with virtually every member of both factions to get one of those spaces (very few characters are above L7 taken as a percentage of the total population). Also, these missions have guaranteed opposition. With the armor missions, there was a risk that no/insufficient opponents would turn up and it would be a waste of time, so there wasn't the same incentive to jump in right away.
I like the idea of both factions fighting on one side against a common enemy, but it would be a lot easier to get into these if they were just single-faction and/or the number of available spaces was dramatically increased to 10 or even higher, if possible. And I'd also like to join in the calls for something like this for the L8-11 players

I saw one, but that was before I came on the boards and knew what it was all about. My initial "Z0MG?!?!? what am this l33t m1ss10nz?!?!?" reaction meant it was full before I could join

Scantron raises a lot of good points. These missions come up about as often as other missions, but have only six slots for which 90% of the HMW population is competing for space in. With guaranteed opposition, these will ALWAYS fill up.
I like the combined nature of these missions. It's neat to fight alongside players I've always regarded as opposition. I don't think increasing the slots available is the answer, though; I think it would be better if instead of a level range of 0-7, they were broken up into 0-3 and 4-7 missions or something. Honestly I wonder why those of level 3 or less are bothering to join these because they don't even make for very good shields; the logs ought to read: "Level 0 bot transforms into a target and screams for its maker," for all the good they're doing in there. Breaking these into slightly more level appropriate brackets would increase the number of missions and thus increase the number of us that can participate in these.
Though OS probably does have something planned along those lines considering we still haven't seen the high level missions pop up yet.

After reading through all the intel we have picked up from the pitiful sharkticon wrekage, my guess is that these are just the warm up. We have invulnerable judges and Allicons to come yet, along with weapons that can control us.
The real game begins when the judges make a move and currently we do not even know their motives for being here.
Its going to get much more interesting very soon.

Lots of players wrote:Various Suggestions
While the input is appreciated, and some of the conflicting perspectives are interesting (I was surprised to see anyone wish they were single faction battles), don't forget that this is a testbed for v2 stuff. The things you're liking here you'll be getting in spades later on (that's the plan anyway).
Also I believe the current limitations on force-size and mission variety are pretty much entirely b/c these are experimental models. As such, OS probably wants to net the greatest variety of players, without running too many of these not-yet-100% finished models, and yet keep the strain on the program light. That's my impression anyway.
So, don't stress over it too much, just keep those missions filled so OS gets a good experimental sample.

(Hope I didn't say too much. I'll tell you guys straight out, the age old conflict of keeping the players in the know and respecting the programmer's desire to surprise the players with his work is danged hard!)
Now, from a player perspective I will say this.
Single Faction vs AI = Bad
As Scantron pointed out, these missions present guaranteed opposition versus somewhat predictable enemies. If such missions were made available to the factions seperately, faction vs faction mission combat could seriously dwindle, as those looking for the most reliable way to advance in the game would opt for AI missions. This is still going to be somewhat the case, but at least we get the interaction with the other faction (in the form of cooperation and rivalry). Also, this is probably why such missions should be kept relatively rare.
Make sense to anyone else?
