Ive been seeing these every time I go looking for transfomers and everytime I look at them and say nahhhhhhh. Judging from the looks of the stock thats on the shelf it doesnt seem to move and looks as if everyone else has the same opion I do that the two toy lines should have been kept seperate. Wondering what eveyone elses opion on these is.

There are quite a few threads dealing with which figures are worth buying and which are total crap.
but I'll go ahead and answer anyway. You should probably stay away from the earlier waves. The Republic Star Fighter. (obi wan, Anakin, Vader) etc.. but there are some that are nice. The Tie Fighter and the Slave One are pretty good.
Then move up to the newer wave. Darth Vader/Deathstar, Commander Cody/Turbo Tank.
You can skip the rest.

I can only add that the Death Star is boss. It rules all. It's the best planet former to date .... it's such a perfect shere that it can roll on the gorund. It's proportions are great. The sound effects in his arm sometiems get annoying, but that's nothing that yanking the batteries out can't fix. I also dislike the cloth cape, but (again) you don't HAVE to put that on him. (Just how many Ewoks had to die in order for the Death Star to have it's real cloth cape anyway?)
I can also add that Luke Skywalker / the X-wing sucks. I bought it because I though Vader needed a buddy. I like to buy TFs in pairs. When (if?) I set him up, Vader will definately be stepping on Luke in my display, I can tell you that.
On a side note, the Death Star can totally be customised into a very accurate G1 Unicron (at least in planet mode). He's a perfect shere ... his head's just about in the right place for his horns to be used like they are in the movie (oh so very close). His bot mode would be very different (what with the planet peices sticking out), but even so .... the planet mode would be preserved.

Seconded! I love this fig, so glad I caved and got it!
As a general rule SWTF is definately a 'pick and choose' line - and choose very carefully. As mentioned before there are only a few worth getting - personally I like the Han/Chewie combiner too.

If you like SW vehicles and don't want to change them into robot mode EVER then it is not a bad line. The robot modes are kinda goofy and have weird joints on most. Their limbs are also spindly and have trouble standing. The ship molds look great; most have retractable landing gear and the little pilots are kinda cool. Recommendations:
•Darth Maul—robot mode not too bad but does have problems standing up and has limited articulation (like wrists). Looks cool though.
•Deathstar Darth Vader—the best SWTF figure in the entire line. Great in both modes and very nicely detailed. Well worth getting.
•Saesee Tiin—one of the better figures; can be backheavy unless you make the stand with the warp ring. THe battle mask looks deformed (on mine it does)
Han/Chewie Milennium Falcon—very well detailed; great at hiding robot kibble. Only downside is the ginormous guns that look awful in vehicle mode.
The rest are ok; the TF figures are much better in articulation and robot sculpting. The best thing to do is wait and get them on clearance; don't pay full price for them.

I've never bought any, but there are a few that have tempted me a bit (like the Slave-One and Jedi Starfighter moulds).
I think it's a nice idea that for the most part wasn't pulled off as well as it might have been.
The biggest flaw in my opinion is that they tried too hard to make the mechs look like the pilots; I think if they were going to combine the lines they should either have had the vehicles turn into existing TFs (as a crossover AU), or into entirely new mechs. I think by going for the character resemblance as they have, they've sacrificed the quality of the mech modes.

The only thing that really bothers me is that the vehicles turn into lame looking bots of Obi Wan Kenobi and other characters. If they just transform into bots period it might have been cool.
I had only wished that Hasbro had decided to combine it's 2 flagship brands together and made GI Joe Transformers. I'm not talking about a tank that turns into some lame Cobra Commander bot either. I'm talking about GI Joe scale H.I.S.S. tanks that can be "driven" by GI Joe figures that turn into new characters or at least maybe Rattlers turning into seekers like a new version of Thundercracker, something along those lines. If they ever did this line, Hasbro please, no lame looking bots of GI Joe characters.

Well .... maybe they'll actually do this one day. The comics seemed to have done well, and I think TF / SW did well enough (since they did do the big Death Star toy). I think there's hope...

GI Joe is not a flagship brand. Hasbro's 'flagships' right now are SW, Spider-Man, and Transformers. Back in the 80s and 90s, GI Joe for sure though. Until the GIJ movie comes out, no one will care about it.

Looks like GI Joe is set for a 2009 movie release. I happened to run across it on IMDB's news updates. Apparently GI Joe is no longer going to be a "Real American Hero". They are worried about the negative image of the American Military in many countries and decided to make it a multinational force. I believe that the old GI Joe cartoons used to be called "International Hero" in Europe so I guess it won't be that different.
