I just saw the theme on the other thread. I'm a little confused. "Out of the box" Is that like a Toy Story theme, you know, Transformers interacting with real scenarios and things or like Transformers doing real stuff in mock-up scenarios?

You could initially do both. You could set up a scene or go out and find a real one to photograph.

But the idea is to know they're toys. Like if someone had a photo of a Starscream toy switching the price tags on merchandise in a grocery store or an Optimus Prime toy helping a little old lady across the street.

Does that clearify it a little better?

For this contest, real people are allowed to be in the photos and such.

The thread for entries will be created when the 16th rolls around early in the morning so from the morning of the 16th to midnight of the 22nd is the time for submission.

So when you say "10 Transformers only" in a pic, I assume that means total, even if you have less than 10 in the foreground (or in the "action" of the pic) and a few idling around in the background for effect?

I keep wanting to enter one of these contests, and no offense to those who put the ideas up, but the themes are always something kind of silly.

I mean, it's always a theme, which has transformers as the characters, not a Transformers theme.

For instance, I'd like to see less "Tea time for Transformers" and more "Velocitron Grand Prix", less "Transformers fashion show" and more "Megatron must be stopped!".

Just my $0.02

I see your point in wanting more serious related themes and I agree. But when a theme is chosen it has to be broad enough so we don't get repetitive entries. If you can suggest themes that would provide a wide range of possible photos, I'd love to hear them.

I actually had an idea of having a TF toy winding up all the egg timers at the store. Kind of hard to pull off, but I got the idea when my mom and I went to World Market the other day. I always wind the egg timers. :twisted:

Hey there! I just wanted to ask the following:

To add a comment on the contest thread I haven't seen any field to submit the photo, so is it intended that each person himself hosts the pic anywhere and link to it with HTML on the comment? Or did I miss something?

(added later: I was looking at the comments on the thread outside of the forum... I found the thread on the forum and now I can see all the photos and the picture upload button

- sorry for the confusion)

Also, I think that the 800x800 rule is a bit odd because the cameras don't take square photos but rectangular instead... at least the ones I usually see. And that ruined a bit my ideia which I'll be hopefully posting this night (Portugal hour).

Seeing some fantastic shots so far.

In terms of angle and clarity, 1337W422102's shot is great. Did really well to take a photo of a computer screen with no glare or refresh lines, something I find difficult to do myself.

For originality, Windracer. 'Nuff said.

tHE 800x800 rule is simply there to keep people from sucking up the site's bandwidth. Thats just the maximum size, you could easily submit an entry that 'So many pixels' x 'So many pixels' in order to keep it's rectangular shape.
