Transformers: The Last Knight Toys Discussion Thread

Just thought of something. What if after wave 3 they move everything over to a sub line? In years past we saw Allspark Power, Hunt for the Decepticons, and "Transformers" following movie lines, what if they do that again with TLK? Sure, AOE didn't have a sub line, but they also got all of their most important characters released in Generations. The way things look right now it seems like some rather important characters are being left out entirely which is not normal. Sure, there have been some figures that weren't released here, but at least they were released somewhere we could buy them from, but not making Hot Rod or Cogman or a whole slew of Decepticons at all just doesn't seem right.
I feel like part of the reason the first three waves look the way they do is because Hasbro doesn't want to reveal certain plot points just yet. One of the things leaked about the movie is that there'll be a new Prime, how could they not make a figure of that? I can't believe Hasbro will let us down when there's so much left undone.

If hasbro does, it only adds to the fire in a certian reviewer i won't mention because well i forgot the name, who bashes every move hasbro makes, saying the company is incompetent, and takara is better, I mean after 100 reviews of the same bashing you gotta wonder why they still buy the transformers if they hate hasbro so much

Got some bad news about that Voyager Bee. If the codenames mean the same for the characters then Gamma Ray means redecos of old bee toys. And that is the code name for that voyaer Bee (the only code name to repeat between deluxe wave 1 and voyagers). So the voyager would be a pre existing BB. That means it will probably be the HFTD deluxe packaged in robot mode and sold as a voyager, which is what Takara did in AOE
Actually 'Gamma Ray' is Berserker. Repaints of Bumblebee are coded 'Gas Giant' while new moulds are 'Saturn'. (These are confirmed by cross referencing the product codes for the listings). The voyager is code named 'Gamma Beam Grey', so not exactly 'Gamma Ray'. This makes me wonder if Bumblebee on the Voyager listing is erroeous (Amazon.com has Slash listed as Berserker as well as Berserker and another site has one step Hound listed as Sqweeks) and it is in fact Nitro. People have only assumed that Nitro's some kind of exclusive because he was leaked along with the Mission to Cybertron deluxe Megatron, but he might well be in the third Voyager wave with Scorn.

Except for the main antagonist of their flagship character Bumblebee. Instead all we had of Stinger Stateside was a walmart exclusive one step and legion.
But yes a subline following the movie could be good. However I disagree with the notion of not wanting to spoil things since that issue was already solved with the use of codenames. This list of codenames is what was sent to retailers for them to place their orders (hence why retailer exclusives dont appear there) so its complete as far as they are concerned.

Could be, could be. the codenames make it real messy though, I am sure we could cross reference it to show something else if we had enough time. I dont care enough though, so if it means we arent getting that deluxe BB sold as a voyager, then good job hasbro you at least didnt sink as low as takara

I forgot about something here, the spoiler plot point. As we know from AOE, rumours sometimes are just that. There was a rumour Optimus would become a silver knight in AOE and that didnt happen. Funny thing is target had a ton of toys of that unrealized concept

Which might answer your other question: that new prime could be the new theme to the target exclusives this time

Maybe the new Prime could be in a different new toyline. Perhaps one emphasising the power of their rank?

Sorry for all the posts one after the other, not easy on the phone.
One thing before I forget. Me and Emerje had established that any molds which seemed exclusive to a retailer turned out to be released at large eventually, using the RID line and its exclusives as precedents. Theres a mistake there: Legion Megatronus was a new mold only released at TRU and never at large. So we have a recent precedent for retailer exclusive molds.

Anyone know if the leader dragonstorm is actually a legitimate leader class transformer or the pointless piece of garbage shown at the toy fair?

The Dragonstorm shown at Toy Fair, the Mega Turbo Changer one, and maybe similar in size to a Leader Class, plus a Legion is all we'll get of him. The only Leader Classes that I know of are Megatron, and redecos of AoE Leader Optimus Prime.

Man, Has/Tak is getting pretty good at disappointing their fanbase. Getting pretty freakin pathetic tbh. The last movie by itself made well over a billion dollars, can they at least try to make a good toy line? The overall quality has taken a dive since dotm. Shorter lines, some that are 60% repaints... paint apps have gotten worse, almost everyone is a shellformer now...
And I thought with this line they were improving, but then they dont make any good stuff for, im assuming, important characters dragonstorm and onslaught. Words can not describe how petty that is. on the bright side, the NEW voyagers look great, and the new deluxes, even if the deluxes are shellformers. When are they gonna get that no one cares about the one step crap? Transformers are supposed to be like cool little puzzles. Doing in one step completely defeats the purpose of a puzzle.

I acknowledged that, a figure was released in Japan at retail. Hasbro not making one probably had something to do with Walmart. A mass retail listing was leaked that included a Decepticon Stinger figure. However, all of the Stinger merchandise for whatever reason ended up being exclusive to Walmart. Hasbro did prototype a Deluxe Stinger figure, but that's as far as it got. It's possible that Walmart wasn't willing to pay for a retooled Bumblebee and instead went for the cheaper repaints instead leaving the Deluxe figure homeless and unfinished.
That list came out before the first full movie trailer and Hasbro's slow reveal of new characters on Facebook. I consider the lack of them showing Wave 3 Bee's bot mode and not revealing the fourth figure in that wave part of their slow trickle of information. By the time Wave 3 comes out the movie will be out of most theaters. There's no hurry to give it all away.
william-james88 wrote:As we know from AOE, rumours sometimes are just that. There was a rumour Optimus would become a silver knight in AOE and that didnt happen. Funny thing is target had a ton of toys of that unrealized concept
Well the rumor came from a list of leaked plot points which, from what we can tell from bits of released information, interviews, and trailers, has bee been entirely accurate.
And really, what were we to expect with the Silver Knight stuff? It turned up on a bunch of merchandise so of course people thought Optimus would turn silver when he pulled out the sword. That's what happens when you drop a plot point from a movie too late to cancel the manufacturing of the products related to it.

Yeah, I was actually thinking about that later and came up with an even more recent example: The box set clones. But that just means it doesn't always happen, but CAN happen.

You saying one steps dont sell and no one cares for them? What about the legion of hardcore fans that have G1 top spin and twintwist, the earliest one steps:

Transformers G1 1984 Twin Twist Gallery
Simpler, gimmicky figures have been part of the brand and selling well with kids since the begining. I have no clue why this is any new.

Video Reviews for Transformers: The Last Knight Premier Edition Voyager Optimus Prime & Grimlock
- Motto: "Till All Are Pun!"
After last week's sighting of two of the Voyagers from the first wave of Transformers: The Last Knight toys - Premier Edition Optimus Prime and Grimlock, as reported here - we now have some video review of the two figures too, courtesy of peaugh on YouTube and via fellow Seibertronian Madeus Prime. (Edit: We do have previous reviews of Optimus too, enjoy the double feature!)
Optimus is a new mold, reflecting the similar look of the Autobot leader in Age of Extinction and the new upcoming movie, while Grimlock is a silver and grey repaint of the previous movie's same toy, which you can compare in our gallery here. Check them out embedded below!

I like One-Step and simple Transformers Like Minicons or even the Rescue Bots line - being quick to Transform has it's own appeal. I don't like having to take 10 minutes out my day to Transform the average third party toy so much - I find if something is to much of a chore to Transform I don't even bother and leave it on one mode.
Or in the case of ROTF leader Prime I've got 2 of them and I leave one in Truck mode all the time as it's to much of a chore to Transform it.
------
Oh and I notice that Infernocus looks like the Demonic guys Optimus is fighting in the latest Trailer.

That Grimlock bit was not amusing, so stupid. Some people might actually want to see a review comparing AOE versus TLK. I've passed on this Grimlock twice, but i would still like to see the color variations. As would others im sure. Take that crap to politico. Capitalist oppressors. The "Capitalist Oppressors" comment was just a joke, I can assure you, not a legitimate political opinion. He was just making fun of the figure. It would be similar to someone saying "Thanks Obama" in response to a straight repaint. It's sarcastic, and is not what the person actually thinks. Don't worry, we wouldn't have posted it if we thought it was politically fueled in any way.
