Well, puke, yeah. Sexy, huh? I couldn't keep even anti-nausea fluid down. It's from that blasted spinal tap. I got caffeine through an IV, as well as saline. I still have a headache, unfortunately, but at least I'm not throwing up. I might need a blood patch tomorrow to stop it once and for all. That's when they take blood from your arm or something and put it in your back where they took the spinal fluid. Tonight, when the nurse wanted to put a humongous needle in my arm, I finally revolted and broke down. I've had it with needles. She did it anyway, and completely busted my vein. Then she had to attempt another IV in the other arm. What a week!

sorry to hear you're having such a sh**ty run of luck lately Moonbase2.
While I haven't had a spinal tap I have had steroids injected into several places of my spinal cord and that sucked, so you definetely have my sympathies.
Get better soon, Bumblebee misses you.

Today I was tested for neuropathy. Basically it involved putting electrodes on my legs and arms, and running electrical shocks through them. Then the neuro took a needle and stuck it in my legs, arms, back, and neck. It was a fun morning.
Everything has come back pretty good, and he is suspecting that it is small fiber neuropathy. A third of the time, the cause for neuropathy is never found. So he gave me some stronger pain meds for my awful headache and some medicine to calm down the nerves. As long as it takes away the symptoms, I am fine not knowing the cause. He's an excellent doctor, though, as he's been extremely thorough. Oh, and get this--the neuro that did the spinal tap used a needle larger than was necessary so the procedure would go by faster (he was on call), knowing full well that young women are more prone to terrible headaches (bad enough to cause vomiting just by sitting). He did it to save time at my expense! Oh well, at least it is nearly over.

Twice.
With steel toed boots, with a spike welded on. And make that double a double.
And then kick him in the face with it once too. Might as well.

I'm still having the headaches but now I'm having what might be an allergic reaction to the narcotics they gave me. I just itch like crazy and sleep hours at a time. I'm gonna have to get a blood patch.

What did they have you on?

They gave me Oxycodone. Luckily for me, I woke up yesterday and the headache was nearly gone. Today has been great. So no blood patch, thank goodness. I stopped taking Oxycodone and they gave me something stronger, but since I don't have pain anymore I haven't taken it. But I'm on a medication for the nerve problems now. It's three horse pills a day, basically.

I'm a LOT better. Thanks for asking. I'm just taking the medication for the symptoms-as soon as that really kicks in I should be gravy. I'm finally able to focus on things that matter, like my family and my business.

Girl, you are one brave SOB. If a doctor came at me with a needle that big I'd say screw it and run off. I hate needles. I've only gotten blood taken once and it sucked! I cringed the entire time! The doctor thought it was some funny sh*t though...
God, I'm such a wuss.

Once?
I've had it one time each with each pregnancy, once at my Army hospital for this crap, once after having first baby, I've had an epidural, I had my blood drawn twice when I had this hospital stay, the spinal tap, four IVs, plus an extra attempt when the nurse busted that vein (and the needle she used looked about the size of the one that went in my back. I finally lost it about then. Completely).
This is nothing new to me. I still hate it each and every time, but you can almost say I'm used to it. To all the needle junkies of the world, WTF?? It hurts!! My poor ass is only 23 and I've had enough needles for a lifetime!

I've gotten more shots then I can count. The ones you get at the dentest are the worst! ESP when it's your first time. Nothing compared to a spinal tap granted.
I've been to the dentist once (what do you expect? We're poor) in my life and it was a couple years ago; I had 8 cavities and a root canal. I got the root canal first thing and when she pulled out that seringe, remember I'm freaked out well enough as it is at having to get a root canal, and see the monster I was "Oh ****! #$%& no!"
I was so freaked out they brought my dad in to hold my hand while they administered the shot.

Those dentist shots are pretty unpleasant. I had them last year when I had a crown put on. I've had my fair share of dentist needles. Yuck. Still prefer them to having blood drawn though, for some reason. Ooh, I hate dentists and doctors. *shudder*

Whenever I'm in a hospital I feel like I'm gonna die. Even if I'm not the one were going there for.
The worst I've ever had to go to the hospital for was a broken nose when I was 5 or so (slipped on ice)and when I was 11 because I cut an artery in my toe after dropping one of those large glass Disney anniversary glasses. Blood shooting up from your toe is an interesting sight. You know you should be worried, but all you can think about is "Oh...look at that...MOM!!"
I hope you feel better soon Moonbase2 and more importantly, they find out what's wrong.

The funny thing is, I felt worse when I LEFT the hospital! I was too sick to even sit. Thankfully, it's all gone now, and we've pretty much narrowed it down. It's nothing that can't be treated, and it's not debilitating like multiple sclerosis.
Oh, and my pop held my hand too during a shot (well, that huge ass IV needle). You're never too old to need your dad.
