Bay wants to start TF2 "Right Now"
wingdarkness wrote:So is it confirmed that Orci and the other dude got let go for the next movie?
They didn't get let go. I believe they have a prior commitment with J.J. Abrams' Star Trek movie.
Edit: Since I can't double post here, I'll add this part here--
1337W422102 wrote:Still, the fact is the first movie hardly had characters at all. And since so many of the Decepticons were new and expendable characters, maybe it wouldn't have been so bad to have given them personalities. And the Autobots weren't that much better either, except for a few lines and the basic "Ironhide baddass, Ratchet scientific, Jazz cool" guideline.
I understand that Bob and Larry might not be the best men for the job, but the guys who wrote the first one (or at least the guys who allowed to the first one to end up as it did) sure weren't, either.
The second movie is the real test to see where they go with what they started. There are plenty of seeds planted, but now they have to make them grow (Hooray metaphors!

That's especially true with characters where they gave parts of their characters and allowed for some development, mainly with the Autobots of course, but now that they've been introduced they can be expounded upon. That's actually the biggest problem for this movie. Hasbro is going to want to make toys, which means they will always have to introduce new characters, which means the old characters still won't get the screen time we want. This franchise is in a type of constant Catch-22 situation.
You're absolutely right there. I think that the Autobot roster is great as it is, except they need the replacement after well, that casualty. Perhaps Prowl.
I think that rather than just make up new characters and show them do something "X-TREEEEEEME!!!", they really should develop who they already have. Since they have the introductions out of the way, now's their chance to develop!
As for the toy part, well... I have a feeling we'll be seeing new alts. Whatever new GM car or truck that comes out will probably get a shameless plug!

I believe multiple viewings helps. I saw it for a third time last weekend and I am pretty sure I caught most of the action.

Therein is another thing that makes me wonder. If they have to change the alt modes of the existing characters in order to sell new cars and new toys (let's be honest, they have to do the car selling so they don't have to spend absurd amounts of money designing their own cars, which as Bay points out allows them to save money to do other things), wouldn't that take up production time because they have to redo the designs and transformation sequences of the characters? Unless they just made them into that year's models of the same makes, anyway.
And I like this core group too. They were fun to meet and there is oodles they can do to further improve them.
I liked the movie, but I know there are things they can do to make the sequel even better, especially with the people who didn't really know Transformers before now being introduced to them and not needing as much exposition.

Mm. Given the need for a new batch of toys with each movie, you can probably expect them to get damaged and need rebuilding/ some other premise to get new alts, although it's possible that in two years time they'll be able to just rerelease some of the toys (throw in a new hat) in TF:TM2 boxes and still sell a bundle. Like make leader prime come with some minor accessory or pivotal prop, give him a minor redeco (maybe some silver 'scuff' effects) and they'd probably sell a bunch more.

Aaaannnddd....any remote respect for your opinions just went out the window. Period.
What a ridiculous and disgusting thing to say. Sounds to me like you have a "fugly" mind and heart.
I hope the second movie is a success, and I hope it pisses off the G1 fans even more. I want it to be the box office's version of a bitchslap.

That might be the worst endorsement of a movie ever...

That would be the worst possible thing that could be done. The fans themselves cant come to a consensus on what to put in the movie. No fan involvement is the best involvment.
Wow! Seriously...? Like all the fans sat down and tried to make a cohesive script together and it just blew up in their face? Come on man. I think we all know what the fans want:
Respect for the source material, the characters we love to come to life not made up ones or drastically altered, cool action sequences and a great story etc etc. The other smaller things are are always debatable but some things are constant.

agreed. If he starts now the story will suck more than this one did. He needs to get some GOOD competent writers, I can think of one.. Simon Furman maybe. WHo KNOWS Transformers btu is able to put his own spin on it.

Yep. Best Decepticon line ever. 'ARE YOU USERNAME: LADIESMAN217?!" So f*cking classic.
Ah, so Bay just might possibly have a chance of maybe being the director of TF2. My thoughts on the matter? Give the robots more screen time, damnitt!

Could you please elaborate on your statement? There are countless movies that I've watched that my friends have said "How cool is it when X does this to Y?" to which I reply "Oh I must of missed that" so I go back and watch it again and see the scene my friend mentioned. My whole point is that in a movie so full of action it is nigh impossible to catch every single awesome detail first time around (in my opinion of course)
For the record I believe that the worst possible endorsement for a movie could be "As good as weekend at Bernies 2"

That's actually why. They were going to kill off a character, and wanted to use the one they felt people would care the most about besides Prime and Bumblebee.

I SO hope he comes back for TF2! He's an awesome director and just suits this type of sci-fi action movie perfectly.
I cant think of anyone else id rather have direct my transformers movie, and unlike many i actually like the new designs (apart from frenzy, damn is he one ugly-mother-refueller!)

I'm looking forward to Bay tackling TF2, loved no.1 so if he builds on that, ala Spidey 2 on Spidey 1 then it will be sweet.
