You need to make sure the link leads to the image and not the page. So, it needs to end with any image file extention like .jpg. Simply right-click on the image and select "Copy Image Location" if you use FireFox.

Normally I CTRL-click and copy image address, but I guess it didn't work this time. May very well have been a symptom of my Safari-use.
