Reel Chicago has confirmed that Chicago will be getting another helping Transformers action. Transformers 4 is among three sci-fi movies that will be filming in Chicago in 2013, the other two being Divergent and Jupiter Ascending. Transformers 4's Mark Wahlberg is reportedly looking to rent a residence in the area for four months over the summer.

If it was a flashback, I think they would use old footage. This may be like "Re-visiting" an old area or just be the location of the new movie.

I seriously dought it will involve in the Autobots and Decepticons squaring off in a baseball game...sounds something they would have done back in G1 days

Didn't the people of Chicago respond negatively to seeing their city reduced to rubble in DotM? I remember reading that. I'm surprised they gave the go ahead for it to happen again.

If they're staying there for four months to shoot I'd wager most of the movie is taking place there.

Guess it makes sense, considering they totally destroyed the city in the last movie. Someone has to rebuild it! Lol

Well they could just be shooting there for some kind of tax break, they can make it any city they want in post production. I've no basis for this so it's just conjecture.
