David Von Ancken

He's done a lot of TV shows and just did his first feature movie, Seraphim Falls, which was amazingly good. The setup between Pierce Brosnan's character and Liam Neeson's character at the beginning is so crystal clear and then half way through it's the exact polar opposite and by the end a great equilibrium between the two is founding leaving it relatively neutral.

I thought he handled those two characters beautifully. It was like a character advancement ballet. Plus he co-wrote the script too so he has that going on for him. He really did a fantastic job.

Well, that doesn't have so much to do with Rodriguez as it does the company that created the CG. My biggest concern, if he got it, is that he might be a little too CGI dependent. I think one of the things Bay insisted on, and one of the things that contributed to the strong effects of the movie, was the usage of practical effects whenever possible.

I almost think it might be good to find someone who's not known for big budget flicks, and bring them in. It's worked well in the past(Singer for X-Men, Raimi for Spiderman, etc.).

The other thing this thread proves is that there's probably no one the fans could ultimately agree on to handle a movie. =p

I would say James Cameron. The robots in T2 kinda reminded me of the Transformers.

I just hope Bay doesn't bail out. He has the vision an someone else might ruin it.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned Paul Verhoeven yet. He seems like a rather natural choice.

Or, if you want to retain the same humorous style as the first film, the guys who directed Epic Movie.

Alfonso would be tremendous. Or Guillermo del Toro. The film wouldn't be nearly as 'fun', but that would be fine with me.
Whedon would also be an inspired choice, but all these guys have projects.

But I'm not throwing Bay under the bus, just the script-writers. Get a new set of scribes and Bay can direct TF all he wants.
